The Downfall Of A Nation

In the book of Judges a great principle of government is presented, a principle which is also stated very clearly in the prophecy of Isaiah. All of the subsequent prophets simply bear out and apply this principle which has already been stated. The principle is this: There are three steps in the downfall of a nation. First of all, there is religious apostasy. The second step is moral awfulness. And the third step is political anarchy. These are the three steps by which nations pass off the stage of human history. That has always been the way it has moved. You see, the primary problem never was political anarchy. The primary problem never was moral awfulness. As bad as these are, the root problem goes back to religious or spiritual apostasy, a turning away from the living and true God.

The downfall of a nation begins in idolatry; it begins in turning away from the living and true God. We would like to think that idolatry has gone out of style, that no one today in this country is bowing down to an idol. That, of course, is not true. Many a man and woman today is worshiping the almighty dollar. many a man and woman worship sex. Many a man and woman worship pleasure. Anything that you give yourself to, anything that takes all your time or energy, anything that takes all of you is what you worship. That is you god, that is your idol, and that is what God condemns. God says that He is a jealous God. He says, "I made you. I created you. I have redeemed you. And I want you." When a man turns his back on God, he is doing the worst thing any man can possibly do. But the Lord is in His holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before Him. Habakkuk 2:20

Show us the exact moment when we fell below the line of Blessed nation? Show us where that level is and how we can get back to it...and also show what measuring units, and/or devices you use....

Sounds like finger-pointing consumes most of your time. You worship your own POV and accusing others of not being Right-minded Xtians.

Weird that that your hand and finger actually does and can point right back at ya! Look in the mirror if you dare, and do the hard spiritual work before you go off proselytizing...

If the shoe fits you wear it, maybe conviction is coming upon you? I don't need to show nothing, do you not live in this world? Can you not see what is going on around you? Hmmmmm...oh wait, thtts right not if the devil has your eyes and mind blinded to reality. There is a way that seems right to a man but the end is the way of death it says in Proverbs 16:25. You are high and lifted up in your mind thats one of the problems with you. Nothing worse for a woman to deal with in her life than a swollen headed and completely godless man. Now about that "Mark of the Beast"...A mark would show who is in our country illegally. A mark would weed out who is a terrorist or who has AIDS. A mark would finally prove to all that the Bible is the truth...

The Mark of the Beast follows a perfect Rightwing Christian Conservative agenda and once again, has nothing to do with a "One True God". I know...let's call it the "Patriot Mark" and claim only a terrorist would refuse to get it.

There's nothing new in this world. Nothing is going on that hasnt been going on since time immemorial. That we have 24 news services that show us the minutiae and make mountains out of molehills is all that is new. You're a reactive scaredy cat, like many Americans these days...who runs at the sounds of a car-horn because of whatever abuses you suffered...or inherent fears you harbor.

While I agree - for the Xtians it would seem that moment was when little children were stopped in their school prayers. That seems to be when we started to go adrift, list and take on water...or so Xtians believe.

Because inside, you still think you deserved (and probably still do) that pain and suffering. Since the Bible itself states that nobody knows when the end is, the question I have is how much good does all of this "end times" superstition do for us as a race? What kind of a person would preach to a child that they have no future, because they somehow have the inside scoop that Jesus is coming back soon? Why is it, that the reality of what could possibly destroy the earth, which is the greed of the very wealthy few, cashing in on our environment, always lead right to the doorstep of Christianity?

If the "End Times" are actually right now, then explain this...

Why does every single Christian Conservative in politics, including Romney, Gingrich, Bush, Reagan, Palin, Bachman...All have direct ties to the oil industry? Why do oil billionaires, who spent millions towards an anti-environmental agenda, directly fund the same people who are saying the changes to our climate are signs of the "End Times"? Think about it.

And no I don't feel like arguing as to whether or not a Mormon is a Christian. Six of one and half a dozen of another.
