@Dan, "The Catholics aren't smoking peyote, so I'm not sure where you're going with the "employment Division vs. Smith" deal." No, but Catholics do operate hospitals, health clinics, Universities , for a profit that prescribe contraceptives and other birth control healthcare in competition with non-Catholic healthcare providers who comply with the law passed by Congress in the Affordable Healthcare Act. You can not plead " conflict of conscience" because you want a free ride on what everyone else pay for as a public healthcare good.

" It's not illegal now to NOT cover BC in group health policies." The Affordable Healthcare Act was passed and signed into law by the President . You can not just break the law because you don't like it. What if all drunken drivers were allowed to drive anyway because they like to drive drunk? Would you want drunk drivers to dictate what public policy on healthcare and safe driving should be?

@McGruff, "the rules of American Society start with the constitution. The other laws can not violate the constitution." The "rules" of American society are passed and ratified by Congress. Affordable Healthcare Act was passed and ratified by Congress into law . Until it is overturned ,if it ever will be , it has to be obeyed. If the Catholic bishops don't want to obey American laws then tell them to go back to Italy. I'm sure the Vatican will welcome them and they'll be much happier under Italy's more socialist command economy.

they are obeying the law. They are not going to violate their faith and pay for BC. Obammy has violated the constitution.

you can lawfully not obey a law that violates the constitution. Yep you can. Either way the church is suing and obammy is getting ready for another 9-0 slap down like he just got when he tried to tell the church whom they had to hire. Obammy is a law breaker.

Dear Newt:
The Bible is very clear on divorcing. You can’t do it. Because when you marry someone, according to Mark 10:8, you “are no longer two, but one flesh.” And, Mark 10:9 reads,“What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
Mark gets even more hardcore about it a few verses later, in Mark 10:11-12,“And He said to them,‘Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.’”

They're operated by the church....but how? Does the church decide what kinds of procedures can be done at the hospital? In the city near me, there are 2 hospitals, one is "Catholic hospital". I honestly don't know what the difference is, except for the fact that there are priests and nuns who volunteer and /or work in the Catholic hospital. But if you're in the city hospital, you can also get a priest.. So WHAT makes it different?
Here's the mission statement from a Catholic Hospital where I live:

"Our Mission

Faithful to the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, our mission is to provide high quality care for the body, mind and spirit of every person.

Our commitment to healing calls us to:
create caring and compassionate environments
respect the dignity of every person
care for the resources entrusted to us as responsible stewards
collaborate with others to improve the health of our communities
attend especially to the needs of those who are poor and disadvantaged
act with integrity in all endeavors
To achieve this mission, we pledge to be creative, visionary leaders committed to holistic health care in the region.

The beautiful stained glass mural at left is the focal point at Alegent Health's system offices located at The McAuley Center, and serves as a reminder of our Mission to all who enter."

Pretty upfront.

"Distinctive Mission Services

Pastoral Care
When facing health challenges, many people turn to a belief in God or a higher power. We are here to support patients’ spiritual needs as they connect with those relationships and resources which provide them with spiritual strength.

Language Access Services
Servicios de Language Access
We believe that caring for patients is important regardless of their ability to communicate. That’s why Alegent Health requires an interpreter be present when any individual with limited English proficiency is seeking assistance within our facilities.

Ethics Center
Today's health care environment is filled with challenging and complex questions. At times like these, staff from the Alegent Health Ethics Center may be able to help.

Clinical Pastoral Education
A supervised, accredited program which enables ordained, religious and lay persons to prepare for a variety of ministries.

Alegent Health and Faith Network
The Alegent Health and Faith Network was created in recognition of the importance of spiritual resources in the prevention of and recovery from illness. It is intended to build healthy communities through medical-religious partnerships.

Monthly Meditations
The Pastoral Care staff provides prayers of comfort and inspiration."

There are some things that differentiate them.

well if they weren't there then it would be one less hospital. It is a huge benefit. To argue otherwise is foolish. It means hundreds of jobs and millions of jobs. It also means care for the sick and injured. Really a dumb question.

They don't serve the communities as well. They refuse many appropriate medical procedures to women. Yet they get all the tax breaks and government funding full service hospitals do.

So when the Bible says "go jump of a cliff" what are you going to do?
Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them?(Lev.24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws?(Lev.20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan,

J. Kent Ashcraft
