Christian witness wrote: The Holy Bible, the word of God is complete and it is written for all mankind to have the hope of gaining God's approval as his children. The Bible says God loves the world of mankind, and he sent his son Jesus to redeem mankind from sin and death. That means if you do not choose to accept the ransom of Jesus, you face eternal death. The fact is that Jesus died for the whole world of mankind, only a few will take advantage of the provision of his ransom sacrifice. If you do not read and study and bring your life into agreement with God's word, you will receive death as your reward, not life in God's new world. Only the meek and honest will listen and obey God's word, and they are just a few in comparison to the billions of people on earth. Jehovah's witnesses will be happy to show you how to get on the one road that leads to life. (John 3:16-18). . .For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent forth his Son into the world, not for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him. ok,so be it with them preachins'. now, the ultimate article of your faith : are we,the majority here, who profess living the Dhamma, nothing but the Dhamma,'saved'? Or we'd rot in hell as preached by many Christians?[frankly speaking, i don't buy the 'believe or rot in hell' ultimatum] I share the Buddha's view that to each man his due.

Grandpasmurf952 wrote: <quoted text> What school of Buddhism are you affiliated with? I once practiced chanting with the Nichiren Shoshu sect years ago but found the hierarchy contradicting the mystical experiences that led me to investigate them. Not all schools of Buddhism follow the same path. I would say that historical Christianity is closest to Zen Buddhism in that it emphasizes a truth that can be experienced that is non-linear. It is also similar to Taoism in that as Lao Tsu said, "He who knows does not say, he who says does not know" While it certainly does not hurt to adhere to the eightfold path, it's the practice of mindfulness in meditation that will ultimately get you there, where like the Buddha, you can say, "I am awake." Both of the later versions of Buddhism and of Christianity are guilty of following dogma that can be conveyed in words. The truth of our existence though, can not be written down, it can only be experienced. Acting like the Buddha is not the same as attaining the same level of consciousness of the Buddha, just as acting like Jesus is not the same as attaining the Christ consciousness that the historical Jesus demonstrated. It's all about simply waking up to who and what you already are as both the historical Jesus and the Buddha said. I follow the Buddha, not any sect. Japanese modern Zen is quite guilty of preaching incorrect teachings and passing them off as Buddhism. You don't understand the way. To compare the master, Buddha, to a student like Jesus-- am speechless. Your logic is that a child who imitates his parents, is not his parents. Of course not, he will never grow up to be his parent, he will grow up to be himself, with the values instilled by the parents. As Buddha's sons and daughters we begin by imitation, then through our own practice become originals with our own development story. The end result is the same, with a very unique path.

Well, Hello, we are all children and we are all evolving towards a different form of consciousness than the one most people are still clinging to. You can practice being like what you believe the Buddha is, based on your finite understanding, till the cows come home but it won't help you awaken to who you are, as the Buddha demonstrated can be done.
This universe is a projection of a greater reality. The foundation of this greater reality is pure consciousness. But this consciousness is not the linear consciousness of the biological brain that you are using that has evolved through our struggles in this small predatory universe.
In essence the infinite consciousness of this greater reality is who we are. All of us. We just need to wake up to it as individuals and as a global society. Due to it's infinite complexity it can not be expressed in linear concepts but must be experienced as a whole. This is why I quoted Lao Tsu from the Tao Te Ching who said "He who knows does not say, he who says does not know" in my earlier post.
You misunderstand Zen. Zen is not about linear knowledge being studied. Zen is about being forced to go beyond linear thought. This is what the historical Jesus also demonstrated. Don't confuse the historical Jesus with the Roman version of Jesus that is based on the Mithra myth. The truth of our existence can not be taught but the way can be pointed out. This is all that the Buddha and the historical Jesus did as mystics.
It was later followers who made both of these people into something they are not as you have appeared to do by making a simple mystic into an object of worship while totally misunderstanding what he tried to tell you.
Peace

Hello wrote: <quoted text> You obviously talk much and know very little. You insult people without backing up your allegations with substance. You obviously are very insecure in your belief system. But you will grow out of it. Until than I have nothing further to say to you. I don't have time to talk to rude and obnoxious people and will no longer be checking this thread. Have a nice life.
