Sorry, I cannot tolerate the inaccuracy. Dalai Lama gets $15,000 monthly from US.

First of all, I assume everyone has good intentions and has the best interest of the majority of Tibetans in mind.
Secondly, we have to agree on the fact that Tibet was never an independent country. I know someone may want to argue the point, but you have to find a map before 1950 showing otherwise. So far, I’ve found none. In addition, the book “The CIA’s Secret War in Tibet”, in a way, proved that Tibet was part of China before 1950.
Now, let me present my points:
- Chinese central government failed to consult with Tibetans on what they truly need. Chinese central government has done many good things for Tibet. I have no doubt on the fact and intention and they have numbers to quantify and vouch for what they did and the result. However, the point is whether Tibetans approve these actions. A few years ago, a railway was built to Tibet. Naturally, it brought more opportunities to Tibet and gave local economy a boost. But, some Tibetans argued that local people were not consulted beforehand. They had a point. You cannot go to someone’s house and dump a set of new furniture and tell them that it’s absolutely free regardless how good your intentions are. As such, I felt that Chinese central government did a poor job and their efforts were not generally appreciated. - Another oversight on Chinese central government is the underestimation of the power of a religion. 9/11 should be a lesson to the whole world. When people strongly believe in something, regardless it’s wrong or right, they could give up their lives for it. With today’s technology, you cannot really be hush hush. The more you want to cover it, the more people would suspect your intention. It also leaves room for speculation. - Last, but not the least, China needs to allow and tolerate different opinions. Not just in Tibet issue, but other things too.
