Some dumbass tried to soften the Deuteronomy 22:28-29 version of the story with this.
Exodus 22:16-17 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride price for her and make her his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride price for virgins."
There are two bride prices? One for virgins and the other for non-virgin? And this money goes to the owner of the property... I mean the father. LOL!
" Deuteronomy 22:28-29 is often pointed to by atheists, skeptics, and other Bible attackers as evidence that the Bible is backwards, cruel, and misogynist, and therefore, not the Word of God."
No, it doesn't sound misogynistic at all! Who gets that money for the property... I mean girl. LOL!
"Together, these passages clearly state that if a man has sex with a virgin who is not betrothed (regardless of whether or not it was rape or consensual) he is obliged to marry her. He should have sought her father's permission first, negotiated a bride-price, and taken her as his wife. Because he did not, he is punished for this - he now must pay up (he can't opt out any more) and marry her (which could be a major punishment in itself if this was a foolish, spur-of-the-moment act and she really wasn't the right woman for him!)."
Wow! His punishment for raping the girl is, he has to marry her; "which could be a major punishment in itself"! "whether or not it was rape or consensual"
You know, we don't have to point out how stupid you believers are! You do a fine job on your own.

The proof is just how blind you are to what your own book of myths actually says! Good grief man lay off the apologetic websites that work hard to rewrite what the bible is saying. The punishment for rape was a measly 50 shackles and the woman is forced to marry the rapist! Look at the infanticide God commands killing small unarmed children for fck's sake!! Not soldiers but gutting babies in their crying mother's arms! Get real man. Sad you get schooled by atheists on your own bible. Relieves him of the duty to think. No matter how you look at it, the father got the money for his property being damaged.

She will also become his wife because he has humiliated her. He is never allowed to divorce her. Hey, look! There is a cute 15-year-old over there! Anyone have 50 shekels? Ah, come on! I'll pay you back! Just get her to go outside the gates, up in that field, then leave her to me! What sick man wrote Deut 22? Oh, your god had that written! I won't brag about it! The man in this verse was an unruly atheist. He was lucky that he wasn't ordered to be beheaded.

Funding wouldn't be a problem if we could abolish atheism and the expensive incarcerations caused by so many atheists being in the slammer. If we could abolish atheism, we could afford a positive space program and get a man on Mars within 25 years. But as long as there are atheists flooding our criminal system with expenses that the tax dollars have to keep mopping up, we can't afford anything. I blame lack of progress on atheism in every aspect of life, politics, economics, education, etc. etc,

TheBlackSheep wrote: Some dumbass tried to soften the Deuteronomy 22:28-29 version of the story with this. Rape is clearly against the law in the Bible. It’s very clear it is an illegal act punishable by death. The issue of rape is found in Deuteronomy 22 but not the particular scripture presented. The scripture on rape is verse 25-27. It is clear and easy for all to understand. Notice the key word here in verse 25 is “FORCE.” Deuteronomy 22: 25. But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26. But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27. For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. Ok, lets look at each verse in detail. Duet 22: 25. But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. “A betrothed damsel.” Betrothed means; engaged. Damsel means; a young unmarried woman of noble birth . Force is easy enough to understand. Lie with her is have sex with her in this case by force,“Rape.” “then the man only that lay with her shall die.” Punishment for rape was death. 26.” But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing;” No punishment warranted because the man forced her,“there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death:” “for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:” This matter is like murder, rape was considered just like a unjustified murder. 27.“For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried,” He found her in the field, alone. She cried for help during the attack. “and there was none to save her.” There was no one to save her.” None of this is hard to understand. It’s simple Simon. This is the issue of rape. Your right it is quite clear. Let us finish this bible study. Verse 28: Deuteronomy 22: 28. If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed,[ Not engaged] and lay hold on her, and lie with her,[ Have sexual relations] and they be found; [They are caught in the act]. Notice verse 28 does not use the word “force” as it was written in verse 25. This is consensual sex, not by force. The use of force was described in verse 25. It is absent “force” in verse 28. Also absent is the cries for help by the damsel. 29.“Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.” Verse 29 deals with the penalty phase. You play, you pay. The man must marry the damsel. There is a reason for this. She probably going to be pregnant. The father must work and provide support for the mother and child.

I'd do it as an unmanned mission first though, in case heaven turns out to be not a friendly habitation for mankind. Or maybe send up a gal. We already have, heaven was breached decades ago. The tower of Babel threw the god into a tailspin, because it almost brought man within reach of an unearned reward. Man took to the skies some decades back, in some incredible flying machines, and in doing so, has far surpassed the tower of Babel, and made it just another myth. And a woman would have to be taught to become a male to enter into heaven
