One puncture straight in, the second a scrape puncture at the outer curve of the lower palm. No antivenom for him either, just a doctor who carefully watched to judge the amount of anti-venom he might need. There are potentially serious risks in using the antivenom. After about three or four hours, it was judged to be most likely a dry bite. None, or almost no venom injected. Not a single prayer either. Thank you for sharing that with us. I believe it. Thankfully he was ok.

But nevermind that obvious lie. Did you know that all venomous snakes control their venom? And that the majority of bites are delivered WITHOUT venom? Any scientist who studies venomous snakes will tell you this fact. But you are so ignorant, you were unaware of this FACT. You just... ... BELIEVE. Don't you? Lying is not only your best move... ... it's also your ONLY move. Bob, I have built up a resistance to your venom. It doesn’t bother me any more. Granted it has taken a while. I don’t care about your insults or rants. I consider it a high honor to be on your hate list. That means I’m on the right track and going the right way. You are going to have to try harder to be mean. Bless you Bob,

There is an amazing anti-venom delivery set-up in East Texas. We live, work, hunt, fish, play in the great outdoors, and all of us have been snake bitten, but only three of my sons have been bitten by posionous snakes, and all three were Copperheads. We have even participated in the rattle snake round-ups, and I have once before (in these threads) told of rattle snake tamales that I made from scratch, in Mangum, Oklahoma ~ 1974. Actually, in the US, knowing the species of snake responsible is not important. The anti-venom for all three pit viper species in the US is Cro-fab. The newer version is made using sheep, and produces fewer allergic reactions than the previous equine version. The only native venomous snake whose bite cannot be treated with Cro-fab is the coral snake, which is an elapid, not a viper, and its venom is a neurotoxin. I recall a couple of years ago, the only manufacturer of coral snake anti-venom was stopping production so there may be an issue with availability,

I find this is always the way with these hate-filled people: they hate everyone, especially themselves, and try their damndest to spread their feelings of hate onto everyone they meet. It's a consequence of the christian teaching of "original sin". Or to put that in plain english? Christianity teaches that everyone is born scum-- and have "sinned" due to the crime of being... born. A sick, sick religion.

It was a rare beast from the get-go anyway. Apart from religious lunatics, a significant number of snake bites in the US are to young males, particularly bites to the upper extremities, indicative of an attempt to handle the snake. As one medical journal article dryly noted, alcohol intoxication is a common co-morbid condition. Coral snake bites are very rare, partly because the snakes are rare, and partly because the snakes themselves are fairly docile and don't usually bite unless provoked. Even then, about 50% of coral snake bites are dry bites. Because they are neurotoxic, though, there isn't the same immediate pain and swelling, and symptoms often don't manifest until 12 or more hours after a bite. The patient can go from seeming fine to respiratory paralysis very quickly once the symptoms appear, however. Here in New England, I don't see many snakes at all, and you have to work at finding a venomous one. When I was in SE Asia, though, I did see a Russell's Viper, which is one of the species responsible for a very large number of snakebite deaths.

GhostShaman wrote: <quoted text> Or convince the atheists to shoot themselves and prove their case. Here's a better idea: why don't you take your OWN BIBLE, and test what it says? It promises you can drink poison-- and live. It claims you can handle poison snakes-- and live. It promises you will never be sick-- unless you lack faith, of course. And anytime you DO get sick? Your bible blames.. YOU for your utter lack of the PROPER faith. So. You willing to show how much faith you REALLY have? Or are you as faithless as your average atheist; making you some kind of pseudo-atheist-wannabe? Hmmmmm.

The snake-handling and poison-drinking passages in the bible are an intelligence test from god. If you believe them, you fail.

If that was the case than the catholic church would have stepped in and transfered it someplace else so it could hurt more kids!! Just think, if god were real, he could step in and protect those kids, but obviously he's not real.
