Atheist 'denominations' might be helpful, reader suggests

Atheism is to religion as health is to disease. The first is an absence of the second, not a form of it.

Religious denominations argue so much because the religious want denominations -$10s,$20s, and $50s.

Atheism isn't a 'belief system'. Roboblogger stuff. Boring.

As someone has suggested before, probably not worthy of comment and once a comment is added it cannot be deleted (and so just clutters the forum).

Have you figured out what a theist is? It is someone with a claim, and most often that is a claim of a god. That would mean the atheist doesn't have a claim of a god.

But someone claiming Satan as their god, is like you, not like us. That Satanist is a theist just like you. In fact there are thousands, upon thousands of gods who man claims, they all are like you. Not like me, I claim no god or gods. How many do you claim?

If you don't claim them all, then you are an atheist too, you evil, pervert,pseudo-Satanist,cocksm oker marxists,i ncoherent drunk smackies loser.

I don't think this is fair to priests.

I was raised a Roman Catholic and I still remember my English parish priest with great respect and even some affection. He didn't take the Bible literally, but saw it as alegorical. I note people in the US seem far more superstitious than that these days.

It isn't right to condemn priests uniformly. I think that paedophiles (consciously or otherwise) saw the trust that was placed in priests and noted their access to children. That made the job a target for these manipulative, sad and dangerous people.

One of the worst aspects is the poor handling of it by the RC Church and the continued attempts by some members of the hierarchy to protect the guilty.

As bad as child abuse is, it is important not to condemn the
innocent along with the guilty.

I strongly disagree with religion and regard the RC Church as far worse than useless and something of a danger to humanity,(e.g. the effect on Africa of its opposition to contraception and abortions). However, I will be forever grateful for the kindness of my local priest. His thoughtfulness and efforts for myself and our community deserve respect.
