This is especially important in the case of the trajectories of GPS-satellites." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equatorial_bulge ID is not science.

Buck Crick wrote: But for the Earth the applied forces of the Sun and the Moon are in the first instance perpendicular to it. Thus, the Sun and the Moon do not work on the rotation axis. Instead they work on the equatorial bulge; due to its own rotation, the Earth is not a perfect sphere but an oblate spheroid, with an equatorial diameter about 43 kilometers larger than its polar diameter. If the Earth were a perfect sphere, there would be no precession. http://www.sciencedaily.com/articles/p/preces... ID is not science.

As has been pointed out to you numerous times: when compared to a billiard ball, the earth is indeed round, no matter how hard you stomp your fat tea bag feet. Round generally does not refer to 3-dimensional objects. It refers to discs or circles. You are now requiring precision of terms that you do not require of you own argument when you argue the earth is round. SPACE DAILY Physics News: "The earth is not round." I'll repeat that for you - the earth is not round. The earth is not round is what they are saying. They mean by this the earth is not round. When they say the earth is not round, what they are telling you is "the earth is not round". It tipped me off right off the bat - that the earth is not round. I read it again, and it still said "The earth is not round". I therefore concluded they are saying the earth is not round. That's because the earth is not round. Not round. The earth. Not round. "Not round", to me, means "not round".

Buck Crick wrote: <quoted text> How far off would it have to be from round to be not-round? Let's first agree you told us that round could not be used to describe 3D objects a few days ago. And then we can move to what is "round". And since you are asking an OPINION on what is round, I would say that if you put a perfect round object the size of, say, a billiard ball (putting aside there are no percent round objects in the universe) and you put another object the same size next to it and you could not tell the difference between the two visually: they are both round. Putting aside that you insisted you aren't talking to me, so much for that vacation of while you were sleeping.

It aint necessarily so wrote: <quoted text> Like we tell the people who fret about gods being thrown out of schools, if you can keep it's foot out of the door, it ain't divine. Fine, but the other scientist quoted about "order of nature" lets the foot in the door. Lewontin knew the danger of that. That's why he said we (scientists) cannot allow it.

Its bad enough that some humans are unkind to others but its worse when those humans use dark age mythology to justify it. Hopefully one day religion will cease in this world and people will operate on logic. That alone will change the world for the better. I so agree....many human and animal lives have been lost in the name of religion, I was baptized Catholic and have since questioned religion as a whole. Way to many bad things have occurred in this world for there to be a higher power....I don't buy into the "Free Will" argument.....

This means "the earth is not round". "Earth" refers to "earth". "Round" refers to "round". "Not" means "not". Put it together - The earth is not round.

Putting aside that you insisted you aren't talking to me, so much for that vacation of while you were sleeping. "Round" is a poor description of any object, worse when applied to 3-D objects. You already admitted a billiard ball is not perfectly round. Given - that if you compare something not-round to another object that is not-round, but you are just calling it "round", it will appear round. If neither object is "round", comparing one to the other does not make them "round". If you compare an object that "looks" round to a perfectly round object the size of a billiard ball, it will still "look round". That does not mean it is round.
