I could be way off here, but if I might be so bold to step in, I think there's a bit of confusion. I originally mistook Eightman's comment to mean he was religious. I think so did redneck and his comment was in reference to the mountain of evidence that evolution is a fact, and how some of our brightest minds have made the claim that god is not necessary. Those of us who don't have a full grasp on theoretical physics indeed, can't really say we know for sure, but that doesn't mean there aren't others who can say with reasonable certainty that god, does not exist. Eighthman then mistook redneck's response to him to mean he was claiming to know that god does exist.
So in that I think you thought you were coming from opposing views when really you're both on the same page. Although I don't know redneck, I'm not always on topix so, again, I may be off the mark here, I'm just going off of what I read.
Amused does have a point though. Whether or not redneck was coming from a religious standpoint or an atheistic one, this is a debate. I'm an atheist and agree with pretty everyone who has posted on this thread. That being said, so far it's pretty boring. It's no fun when everyone agrees with each other and there's no challenge.
