Episcopalian Split Comes Down To Locked Groton Church
When the Rev. David Cannon, the priest-in-charge of Bishop Seabury Church in Groton , showed up to start his job two weeks ago, he walked around the outside of the building, trying every door.

There is no Acceptance of "Gay" in the bible anywhere.

I have know Ron Guass for a long time. Bishop Seabury stood for the Gospel of Christ under Rev Guass. I have moved to FL and I am pleased to learn that this continues .
Rev Guass was so committed to the Episcopal Church & its edicts that he refused to speak, even to a group of local Pastors, without putting his collar on, even though we told hihim it was not necessary. He felt stongly it was. WIth the removal of Rev Guass from the church and installing CT's choice, this new Pastor might find himself preaching to an empty church! The church grew to its present position under Ron and the church will support him whatever the Diocese may say. |

Too bad you view anyone who takes a moral stand as being "uptight". |

Good one, Larry the Cable Guy!!! I'm with you.

Being Gay isnt part of the Natural order of Life. Why try to make it?
This has nothing to do with the church but all to do about forcing one's lifestyle onto others! Keep it behind closed doors like everyone else. Most could care less what you do, But don't try to force your personal life unto others. Ever hear of Modesty? |

Openly gay Bishop, does that mean its OK to have young boys as alter boys ,around this guy? Why do you think the State closed all the "Rest Stops" on the Merrit Parkway,I remember when the press, found out about one of the Big wigs from the state, husband was caught with his pants down at one of the rest stops......

That is the problem today. Anyone that is moral is viewed as the one "uptight" or odd. Something is wrong with that picture. |

The diocese of Connecticut is in decline and that decline is accelerating. See the graph here, http://tinyurl.com/5thfdy . Average Sunday attendance has dropped 14% in the past 5 years. They hardly need more buildings. Bp Smith's modus operandi of showing up on Saturday morning and changing the locks didn't work this time.(He was found guilty of violating canon law but they decided his "intentions were good.") The Episcopal Church is now all about gay activism and suing Christians.

As usual in today's society we are continually trying to change the laws to suit or make legal our bad behavior. What was wrong is now right and what was once right is now wrong. Jesus said "I am the same yesterday, today and always". If the Episcopal church continues on this course it will fail.

It is hard to be raised with a set of values and then when the church becomes in jeopardy of loosing memembers and financial support, they change the rules. I don't have anything against gay people or any people. I do have a problem with gay people LEADING the church. This problem has affected churches all over ct. I decided I would no longer attend services in a formal manner. You can't change the bible, no more than the laws. These documents were written and the stories were told as they were. If they wanted to have Gay leaders, they should branch off and start their own version of the faith. I understand what the people are going through. Thats your church, your time, your financial contributions and your community. Keep fighting for whats right.

Skippy, what makes you so certain that "being gay" *isn't* a part of the "Natural order of Life" (as you put it)? Got news, dude--there are a HECK of a lot of same-sex animal and bird couples in that oh-so-pure Nature. It's something that many scientists ignored when they saw it in the field and refused to report. It's only now that some of 'em feel secure enough to discuss it, it seems.
And for The Critic: pork and shellfish--such as shrimp, clams, oysters, and lobster--are also banned by the Bible, along with a number of foods. Yet I've never seen a single person who invokes the Bible as their rational for gay-bashing call for picketing the Red Lobster restaurant chain, the local fried clam shack or ribs place, or any place that sells shellfish or any of the other forbidden foods. Why not? Not so satisfying to look down one's nose at a clam? Or just can't give up those shrimp cocktail appetizers and baby-back ribs? It's this cafeteria-style, pick what you want Bible stuff that screams of hypocrisy to me. |

Arrgghh--that should be "rationale" back there.

Sounds good to me, Zinkleman. |

This is exactly why I have left the Episcopal religion that I was raised in. This is not Christian behavior. I thought the Episcopal Church welcomed all, to split over women and homosexuals is not welcoming all in the name of Christianity. What a sad day for the Episcopal religion.

Gee, thanks! I already have cancer. |

My, my - what wonderful examples of 'Christians' Gauss and his congregation are! Basing their integrity (loose term), honesty, compassion and ethics of the cost and value of an inanimate object rather than the teachings of whom they call their Lord. Bless their little hearts.
