I'll answer after you do..... Doesn't it actually say that he went to the land of Nod where he "knew" his wife - i.e., where they had sexual relations and where she bore children?

Yes, that's all it reads, George. Nothing less. Nothing more. But, it doesn't say anything about his wife, until his abode is in the Land of Nod.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... ;-) Maybe the girls from Nod were soulless Neanderthals, cute, but good with a rolling pin! I wonder if a son of Adam and Eve, being a Man and having a soul, having mated with the soulless Neanderthal from Nod, gave rise to a Halfghani?

MiddleWay wrote: <quoted text> Since Adam and Eve had no daughters yet, it seems Nod was alive with humans. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... ;-) You might interpret it that way but Genesis 5:4 tells us that Adam and Eve 'begat sons and daughters.' There is no reason to assume that those births only happened after Cain went to live in Nod other than that Genesis 5:4 follows the story of Cain's departure from Adam and Eve in Genesis 4. If you are looking for reasons to try to discredit the Creation narrative, you may just haveto look elsewhere.

We agree and I said no more than that. To assume that it disproves the Biblical narrative is the product of a vivid imagination, and nothing more. Modern, progressive thinkers in the tradition of Jack Spong are capable of better.

And then we have Noah's gang, breeding with mere humans instead of the sons of God or in the Torah, righteous men breeding with mere humans...

Genesis 4 16 Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden. 17 Cain had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son. THEN after the birth of SETH: Genesis FIVE 3 When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he [b]became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. 4 Then the days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he had other sons and daughters. 5 So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died. Context is everything, especially for fundamentalists. LOL.......

Then, when they encounter Truth, if it reveals an inconsistency in their interpretation of that which they have refused to read in the first place, they deny the Truth rather than deny their interpretation of what they have not read. Their behavior can only be characterized as fully-illumined, deliberate ignorance. As Jesus said, "...But if that Light be Darkness, Oh, how great is that Darkness!" Rev. Ken

Yep, real 'Christians' that don't even know what the Logos is claimed to have said while He preached on earth. Bless their little hearts!
