Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. This man is a dictator, a despot. He answers to no one. He probably started out sincerely, but is very different today. Woe unto the shepherds who abuse the sheep. It will be better for a milstone to be around his neck ... Maybe Jim needs to start reading the entire bible, not just select verses. Sure the IRS can bring him to justice, but that's nothing compared to what he will face before God in judgment.

I stumbled upon this thread. Wow! You folks have A LOT to say. I've never been to BT but heard about their music. As an outsider looking in, what is the point of this thread and what do you expect to accomplish?

Gee, it's a good thing we're all Christians folks. I can only imagine how we would speak to each other if we weren't.

Dear Ms. Stein, if you took the time to read this blog from the beginging you would not have to ask such an inane question. The very act of posting on this blog keeps it active. It does not matter if you agree or disagree with the opinions posted on this blog. Free and open dissent with private and public entities are the hall marks of democracy in america. God bless the USA!

I did some skimming. That was my reason for posting my question. Please don't think I'm disregarding your feelings/opinion/gripes. However, I don't think commiserating with one another is going to solve anything. What if a non-christian were reading this? What impression is this thread giving that person? Why do you christians fight all the time?

You stated earlier you do not attend brooklyn tabernacle, therefore this blog really does not concern you.

Portage Park Theater KO's Al Toledo! Success!!!!! THIS IS REALLY GREAT NEWS!!!! http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/13877743-4... Bowing to opposition from Northwest Side neighbors and city officials, a church said Thursday it has withdrawn its attempt to buy the 92-year-old Portage Theater at 4050 N. Milwaukee. The Chicago Tabernacle also said it has withdrawn its attempt to rezone the property so it could adapt it for its congregation. Neighborhood residents fought the plan, arguing that the theater was a cultural asset they didn’t want to lose. They also said the theater is an important part of the Six Corners shopping district and that adding a church to the mix would hurt surrounding businesses. (Oh so NOW they are saying that the theater is important to the surrounding businesses. Wasn't that the argument the Alderman made from the beginning that Al ignored the whole time, but since he realized he was beaten is now sining a new tune) LOL! City officials dealt the church a blow by putting the theater on track toward landmark status. The decision would have barred the church from making extensive alterations. In a brief statement, the tabernacle, 4201 N. Troy, said it is in “final negotiations” for another site. “This has been a long and arduous process and we are glad to see progress in the search for a new home for our church family that better suits our needs,” the statement said. A church spokesman declined further comment. One alternative property it has been shown is a building at 3231 N. Cicero, a long-closed movie theater now used as the Golden Tiara bingo hall. Ald. John Arena, whose 45th Ward includes the Portage, said the church’s decision is welcome news. “We were never opposed to the church. We were opposed to that use in that place,” he said. “There were very documented economic development reasons for that decision.” The Portage books classic and historic movies and hosts various events. Arena said the theater’s managers, which rent the space, put together a $2.5 million offer for the property that matched the church’s.

They're only doing what's aligned with their limited, myopic view of the Gospel, city life, and service to neighbor and community. That is to say, they're blind -- or blinded -- in many ways by a reductionist, easy-believe-ism, where nuances of real, practical faith living aren't or can't be grasped.I don't fault them, but do a feel a tad sorry for them, especially, the congregants.

I am not a kjv promoter. But I respect the rights of a brother who feels that way and it does not seem that Dan was a troublemaker as stated. In fact I knew Dan and he was a very good brother. Many of us were shocked when Cymbala slandered him from the pulpit. Similar to what he did to Roberta Langella.
