I don't think those of means disdain military service to any degree. I also do not think that those of lesser means advocate military service as a patriotic duty. The reality is that for those of lesser means miliary careers offer opportunities for those who forwhatever reasons are less likely to pursue 4 year colleges. Add to that group those who cannot afford a four year degree, but are assisted financially by participation in programs like ROTC. If those of lesser economic means had the same avenues as those with more, they too would be less apt to volunteer for military duty. This of course, would lead to reinstatement of the draft, which may not be far off. They disdain military service. That's for working class grunts who don't know any better and will actually BUY the "protecting our nation and or freedoms there in Afghanistan and Iraq" horse pucky.

No argument there. I praise his efforts for at least trying to promote peace, even if I don't think it'll work. I would be delighted to be proven wrong.

What the article does not mention is that his wife has applied to the British authorities for a visa to live in the U.K.,I only hope they make the right decision, that is to deny the petition.

Come back in 20 years when you know something. wow, even a simple sarcastic "you're wrong, in your face!" would have been better. i'm sorry i misunderstood your post. HOOAH!

Noticer wrote: <quoted text> Grey, unless you're really into the idea of battle for the sheer sake of battle, please reconsider your plans and do not squander your admirable courage on the dirty corporate wars happening today. Funnel it into other humanitarian edeavors, and join the armed forces only if and when our nation is actually facing a real threat to it. Tens of thousands of loosely organized, mostly poverty-ridden, low-tech terrorists on the other side of the planet do NOT pose any actual threat to America as a nation. They are NOT about to defeat our army, invade our country, take over the Oval Offica and subjugate our people. Most unfortunately, the Necons in our government have held up terrorism as a great threat to our nation in order to advance their adgenda of conquest and global domination under an American combat boot. I've read their materials: they truly believe America to be a latter-day Roman Empire and speak - I'm not making this up - of a "Pax Americana" modeled after the "Pax Romana" - that is, the "Roman Peace." Which, as Roman history teaches us, was never to involve anything other than perpetual, continual wars. These American imperialists include top members of the Bush administration, starting with Dick Cheney himself. So, unless you believe that our nation SHOULD be engaged in aggressive wars of conquest and occupation, again I ask you to reconsider. no, i'm not into the idea of battle for the hell of it my post says the exact opposite. and don't tell me what you think i'm doing wrong and what i should do, you don't know me... HOOAH!

Come back in 20 years when you know something. the original voting system prohibited blacks from voting (as well as women, i belive)... so what you're saying is slavery, racism, and barring people's civil rights is "the way to go". "Actually, I didn't say democrats should not be able to vote. Let me make it clearer so you can understand: STUPID people should not be able to vote." ok, fine, but do also think that Democrats are in fact idiots? is the word "stupid" in capital letters supposed to mean that you think i'm too stupid to vote too? how cute. and for the record in 20 years i'll be about 38. i'm pretty sure i already know what i'm talking about. like the fact that fighting for this country is the least one can do. that in doing so, you're standing up for something that CERTAIN individuals refuse to do. it might be because their self-centered, or just lazy, maybe, they just don't give a damn, perhaps it's that they feel they don't have anything they need to give back to this country. HOOAH!

I hope he is only wounded and dies a slow painful death and his extended family is with him in death!
