Judged: 1 The point I wanted to make was that it is not really appropriate to see Scots as victims of "British" oppression when it is their own government, since England and Scotland have had the same monarch since 1603 - when the King of Scotland became the King of England - and a monarch of Scottish descent was on the throne at the time of the Act of Union. I do not really care about people's ethnic origins. In any case, there has been inter-marrying between the different nationalities in the UK and so they are not completely distinct, at least not to the extent that they were a few hundred years ago. |

Judged: 1 1 1 No. You made a reference to "British oppression" and did not use the word "English" in your post at all. In the past, in the sixteenth century and before that, there were battles between England and Scotland (as happened between neighbours in other parts of the world in the past) and sometimes England had the upper hand but I not see Scotland as oppressed in the past. There were marriages between English and Scottish royalty before the two countries joined (when Elizabeth named the King of Scotland as her successor). |

Judged: 2 2 2 I totally agree. As this forum is on Cyprus, wouldn't you say that also applies to Cyprus? If you are told over and over for 36 years that things are not all black and white and not about all innocent and all evil, wouldn't you reconsider? Wouldn't you sit down and think that something is not right if it can't be solved after 36 years of talking about it? Smart negotiators should look at both sides and not stubbornly what they want. If what you want is not feasable, is because it needs adjustments and different thinking. All involved have some degree of blame and unless that is recognized, no solution in the horizon. IT is a fact that Turkey is the true perpetrator but why are the GCs trying to fight the impossible. Why not attack indirectly by uniting with the other victims, the TCs. They did nothing wrong other than run for cover where they thought is the safest. GC credibility was low and they ran and accepted the support from Turkey. They have been suffering ever since, blamed by the GCs and kept hostages by Turkey. Why not use their love for Cyprus and both of you guys unite to fight the common enemy? Pefect time now that Turkey is searching for a new path and the international community is watching, why not present the wishes of all Cypriots to Turkey and the world and put them on the spot. All are talking about one united Cyprus but nobody wants to talk with one voice. The GCs insist that Cyprus is Greek and then they get offended when the TCs feel left out and want their own space. No blame, no accusations, no bitterness or hatred. Just all Cypriots united demanding unity and for Turkey to let both communities decide for their future. This is something the GCs cannot do alone. The TCs will have more influence on Turkey but they will need an incentive to do so. As you very well said, repeating the same old stubborn, failing tactics and refusing to look up and listen is not the smart way to go about it. |

I've got news for you - Braveheart is NOT a documentary! Historical inaccuracies in Braveheart: http://www.allempires.com/article/index.php... |
The US Coast Guard boards ship routinely in International Waters for suspected drug and human smuggling. If, lets say the turks were the flag ship boarded and detained, would you think it's within their right to send a warship along with it to help facilitate the delivery of humans and/or drugs? Same applies to Israel. They have to monitor all shipments into Gaza because of the arms smuggling problem. And it is a problem. The US would blow that Turkish warship out of the water if they interfered with the USA's border security teams. The Israelis have the same right to do so because when you use International Waters to commit a crime against a country (whom is at war), that country has a right to inspect any ship bound for it's water or just deny entry completely. |

Judged: 1 Thus says The Lord God: Weep, O nations! Cry, all peoples! The Lord has lifted up His voice, and His face is set hard against you!... O mighty and perverse nations, you shall be forsaken and left utterly desolate!... IN RUINS! Says The Lord God of Hosts. No more shall you contend with Me in your uplifting, in your upholding, of all this wickedness!... YOU HAVE FORSAKEN ME! No more shall you stand there before My face, with your noses in the air! Behold, even My own people go the way of the afflicted of sin, Following after those desolate of the Spirit Who remain married to this world... Yet I shall save them out of all their troubles! For My own name’s sake will I do it!... For the sake of Judah, I will cover them; For the sake of Jacob, I shall hold them in safety; And for the sake of David, My servant, I shall gather them under My wing. O city of David, My Jerusalem, give Me glory! For The Lord has seen your travail, for it has come. Yet it shall not stand, for you are Mine... I am married unto you! Vengeance is Mine! Says The Lord. And I, Myself, shall go before you and fight against them! And those who devise evil against you shall be thrown down! They shall not stand! For they have agreed together as one, and as one shall their agreement be turned into death... The grave shall be their reward! Recompense, in full, shall I give them in My hot displeasure! In My fury I shall destroy them!... Save a sixth part who shall not be counted among the condemned, the punished of My anger, says The Lord. Beloved of The Shepherd, this you shall see; Lo, you shall behold it with your own eyes... And shortly thereafter, you and yours shall be no more in the earth. http://trumpetcallofgodonline.com/index.php5... !_Watchmen%2C_Sound_the_Trumpe t%2C_the_Alarm_of_War!...Says_ the_Lord |
