now you turn what/how is a typical hindu wedding is like????? except that saath phera please......
A typical Hindu wedding in India...well its hard to generalize because the customs vary a lot from north to the south, and east to west of India.

In the north, its a lot of dance/music stuff, baraat, mehendi,..it's like a festival. There are some poojas and stuff.
It typically spans over 1 week. The groom rides a horse in the baraat, and his family/friends dance around with loud music.

Other than 7 fere, there is standard "kanya daan" where the girls father hands over the bride to the groom seeking assurance that he will treat her well/protect her. Then the bidai thing is quite dramatic and emotional for the bride and her family.
The wedding ceremony is often attended by 500-800 people. People spend a lot, sometimes a lifetime's saving on it. And I am talking about typical middle class. The food has to be good. It's always veggie. It's a matter of prestige for the hosting side.

In the south I believe they have similar customs. I think there is no dance music stuff. But rest of the things are similar, with some variations.

thanks for caring globe.........
all are safe and sound with the grace of ALLAH, no that is not my university.
good to know. Even as we talk, another bomb goes off in Pissawar and kills 105. And now the terrorists are even targeting women and children.
It is very unfortunate that innocent civilians have to suffer for the mistakes of their past govts/army/isi.

there is no teaching in any religion. People are going crazy themselves by watching movies and succumbing to societal/peer pressure.
In the case you mentioned, they probably had spent too much and gone too far with the preparations, so didn't postpone it.

Speaking about Hindu tradition, the religion does not teach any such thing. People do what is convenient, and more prevalent in their society. In some communities they just postpone the wedding if anybody in the immediate families die.

preprations they are the billioners/too rich, that should not effect them, i guess they did not love their mom, i don't know them persnolly the bride's father is my father's business partner, the bride was just just 19 years old or i would have asked questions on questions.
