Resettlement of the squatters needs to be out of Manilla but that also requires jobs to be available. You can rehouse 200,000 squatters away from the rivers by giving them better homes and what will happen another 200,000 will move into Manilla and squat along the rivers waiting for their free home. Filipinos always seem to want something for nothing and are happy to do nothing except add to their problems by having too many children.

They are probably going to have many kids and mess up the place wherever they relocates in masses. Over populated no matter how you shuffle it is still over populated. PH has been sleeping for too long.

relocate squatters to the rural areas and have them go into farming, food production. the government help educate them. make sqautting a serious offense with jail time. what are the squatters do in the city anyway if they are unemployed. in the province they can go farming and they won't go hungry. there are plenty of uncultivated lands in the rural areas. other than just being lazy.

Stick and carrots seems to be the most humane and civili9zed way to make lazy untrained unskilled inexperience ass move.

There is a better solution in that problem if only the philippines government is not corrupt. Everytime the move those people alone the river bank the also put cement fence on it so that nobody can build their tiny house in the river bank. But the biggest problem is these corrupt politician is not doing anything because the need these poor people votes comes election time. So, They're also the problem.

This is one of the reason why poor people try their luck in the city only to be take advantage with the corrupt politician. But if the government really want to solve the problem there is a way. Lots of way.

Last year Marikina wanted to relocate the squatters along the Marikina Antipolo border were a major floodway is in between them but the Mayor of Antipolo objected to relocate the squatters because it was election that time and the Mayor of Antipolo got scared that if you relocated the squatters he will loose many votes.

I think you are being more than a little too harsh on these people - in fact they want to work -thats why they moved to Manila to seek better oportunities- most of them do work -poorly paid jobs for the fat cats like S.M for example . If you want these people to stay in the province where they are better off then you need to assist them to be able to earn a living - lazy ? unskilled ? untrained ? try getting trained when you live hand to mouth everyday - Many have made bad decisions when it comes to their lives -too many kids is one of the many common ones - men are largely to blame for this as it seems to be the Filipino Man that thinks its Macho to have a big family regardless of his income i know many women here that wish to stop at two or three kids but their husbands will not allow them to use birth control. For those of you who have not been to manila recently you may be shocked at the number of new houses and subdivisions being built -both for high and low income earners, i think of Manila as a mushroom city -many times if i change the way i travel to cavite im shocked by how fast homes are being built .

Id like to know where you get your facts. Most of the squatters work for fat cats like SM? Have you taken a poll in SM of employees and asked them if they are squatters? NO IM SURE. Not one job would be lost if the squatters were all removed from Manila. The way you put it is that SM would have a shortage of employees if the squatters didnt work there. Truth is that SM prefers college kids. PERIOD. Squatters dont even have a set of clothes that would enable them to work at even low wage jobs. Whats your big problem with SM and other successful businesses? Jealous? Envious? Isnt it you who is servicing those Chinese businesses with whatever services that you provide? According to your own countries national wage scale you are also working for slave wages.

Tama ka! most of these people don't have a good education how can the work in SM these business want to hired people with atleast second year college. Even MCDONALD hired only people with college education. But at the same time you can't blame these poor people to try their luck in the city. The only problem is they don't know they're going to have more problem when the get there. Especially the don't have education and the only job the can get is housekeeper or pick trash in order to survive. This is one of the reason why there is lots of them build their house in the river bank,...And the government is not doing anything to help them or try to relocate them. And even some of them has been relocate the always come back in the city. So, for as long as these people keep staying in the river bank flood problem will never solve. Because the keep throwing their trash in the river. Just look what happen clean=up operation in pasig river nothing good happen to it because people clean-it-up! these poor people throw their trash again. so how can you solve the problem. Duh....

This is how the rich become richer in this country -by avoiding paying the worker what he is due -useing loopholes in the labor laws - thats how the likes of Henry Sy become Billionares . BTW -I DONT WORK -i did back in 2007 when i started out -now i dont need too- i have people do the work for me and i dont use an agency and all my staff receive more than the minimum and all benefits due plus bonuses. the worse thing that i cant stand is when you go to S.M and every five minutes the staff are made to clap and chant "happy to serve" like child slaves .

They hire as many as they could they have layers of employees so they have to share what's available on the payroll budget.

YOU LIKE TO EXAGGERATE WHEN YOU TRY TO CONVINCE PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE RIGHT. I see the same girls here walking to SM, but unlike you i have stopped and chatted them. Without exception they are all in school and live in boarding houses or with relatives or room together. They speak enough english to be able to work with the buying public. Regardless of how they get their jobs they are willing to work for whatever wage they are paid. If it makes you angry then TOUGH SHIT. Its not your life and its not your country. When is the last time you spoke with a squatter that had enough english to qualify for any job much less the clothes and make-up and was lice and flea free? You talk a lot of shite , but you never have any solutions. Would you rather have Henry Sy be put out of business? Arent you the Chinese pet there where you live? Do you speak this way to your Chinese clients? NO YOU DONT.
