I am very disapointed in the description of what it takes to have a ferret as a pet. NO meat scraps unless its from the pet store and says for ferrets. Little needs cleaned at least twice a day. And the startup cost is potentially MORE then $500 and most the time MUCH MORE then $500. Buying just one is not a great idea because they are very social creatures and you can plan on going through a bag of ferret little a week at $25 a pop and a bag of food every week and a half at &15 a pop. This does not consider any medical attention they WILL need at some point and you should take them to the vet as often if not more often then you take your cat or dog. Clipping nails? Do it while they are sleeping, ferret proofing a house? Good luck with that. You can make it ferret friendly but the little buggers will still gt into something you dont want them to.
