I have a cat in fact I have four, but this chick will NOT piss in the litterbox. She poops in there. But she will strait pee on my vanity in my bathroom(including on my toothbrush, flat iron and blowdryer). She will pee in the bath tub on anything like clothes or socks on the floor, on our bathroom rug, on plastic reuseable bags for shopping(so much for going green, more like yellow). I have had to throw away thousands of dollars worth of shoes and clothing thanks to her. Im at my whits end. I just feel so bad cuz I have her sister and Mom as well. They are all crazy(we call them the coven) but she is the only one who does this. We have plenty of litter boxes which are cleaned out more than twice a day. She is 100% healthy. Im really beginning to think shes just an a-hole. I love her so much and dont want to get rid of her but Im tempted to just open the door one day and say BA BYE! Please help me so I dont have to take her away from her sister. I cant handle this anymore.

Cats have a hierarchy no matter what of the 38 species they are and their organs of whether they are fixed or not has something to do with it. When she goes to the bathroom and pees... does she go straight up against the wall and shake her tail? That is territorial behavior... but then her going all over when you say she is 100% healthy is usually territorial behavior too. There is something called Feliway that you can get from their vet. It is a feline pherimone. You plug it into the light socket. Don't worry... you can't smell it as you are human... only cats can smell this. It usually works to calm cats down when there is a territory problem but is not a 100% guarantee. The way their ranking system works is this. Male cats are always about female cats... organs or no organs. Male cats with organs are always above male cats without organs. Female cats with organs are always above female cats without organs. Cats look at humans as other cats that are always higher in rank and they don't look at them as human.=^..^=

My Girl... Is this one cat or multiple cats? Are there other pets? Does your cat still have her organs?
If she still has her organs that can make the difference here. If she still has her organs and hasn't had her operation it is very likely she will spray all over the house and poop all over the house if there is not a medical problem with her... or if there are other cats or pets. If there are no medical problems causing this... it is very likely a territory thing and she is doing what is called "Marking Behavior."
She thinks of everyone as other cats and not as human. It's important you know that. If she still has her organs she should have her operation and that can help with this if there are no medical problems with her... but then again she should be taken to her veterinarian just to make sure. If there are multiple cats you can pretty much be sure it is "Marking Behavior" and she is trying to show her dominance. If it is a multiple cat household you can try a product called Feliway that you can get from your vet. It is a cat pherimone that only cats can smell. It can help calm her down. If she is a Championship or Premiership in Show Cat her organs cannot be removed as she would be disqualified immediately from the Show Ring. Neither can her claws. They can in Household Pet Class though if she Shows. I hope this helps you.

I have three cats, one male two females all three fixed. One 15 year old female has a urinary behavioral problem. She will urinate on any throw rug I have. She loves any kind of carpet or rug. Where I live now there is no carpet. I keep me bathroom doors shut so she cannot get in to use the bath mats. I have removed all door mats. I use to have a rug outside the litter boxes to keep the litter from going all over the house. She would pee on that. She will use the litter box if there are no rugs. This has been going on since she was a kitten. Vet says no urinary problem. I just purchased a litter mat for outside the boxes in hopes of keeping the litter down, thinking she would not like it. Wrong! She is peeing on that. I guess I will just have to put up with litter all over the house and vacuum one a day. Any suggestions?

At her age there's probably very little you can do to break her of it since it's habitually ingrained. If she was just incontinent I'd suggest pet diapers. Hopefully if someone else has a method, they'll post it, though. Is it a plastic or rubber litter box mat with the little nubs on it to catch the litter? If it's not, you might try those kind. It could be just the carpet smell/feel she wants to pee on. Or maybe get some plastic office runner material that help chairs roll on carpet and turn it nubby-side up. Here's a crazy idea. Get another litter box just for her and put an easy to wash bathmat in it folded in half. Add litter to the rest of the box. Every week make the bathmat a bit smaller by folding it more and replace the open space with litter. Wash the mat as needed. Maybe she'll retrain herself to just use litter and you can remove the mat. I wish you the best of luck with her. Thank goodness your other cats have not followed picked up the habit from her!

Solution: just get rid of all your cats. They are the most disgusting creatures on earth and do not belong inside people's homes.

The only suggestion I can think of is to take two sided sticky tape and to put it on the mats. Cats hate anything that is sticky on their paws. I don't think your cat will want to go on the mats after that and will most probably want to use the litterbox after that since your cat has used it before. Let me know if this helps Sheila Marie. Meow.

I have a very old cat named whiskers who is 15 years old. She has bad hips and has arthritus in both hind hips and legs. She keeps pooping and peeing everywhere else but her litter box. We thought at first it was because we moved her from one home from her sisters to our new home and her sisters did not come along as they stayed with my husbands mom. We knew she was unhappy so to ease the unhappiness we bought another cat to cheer her up. Seems to work but still no success in the litter box. I dont know what to do anymore and we might have to just put her down..ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT FOR US. My husband has had her since she was a kitten.

First get her checked to make sure she doesn't have some kind of health issue. Second, make sure there is a litter box that has very low sides for her. Older cats with joint problems sometimes stop using their box because it hurts them to get in and out of it. Your vet may also be able to give her something to help with the arthritis. Third, try pet diapers. They are sold through many pet stores. There are even tutorials online to make your own out of newborn diapers. Many older pets become incontinent with age and this is a way to help keep things clean. Good luck with Whiskers.

Sneezing could very well mean that she is ill and antibiotics may help with that and the peeing. In the meantime keep her in a room with just her food, water, a bed and her litter box to minimize her exposure to other kitties in case she's contagious. Hope it works out and you get to take her in the vet's soon.

I am so very desperate for some help! We are a household that includes four kids from 4 yrs to 17yrs and a dachshund that is 3yrs, a ragdoll cat that is 13 yrs, and two kittens born in July of 2011. The kittens love sleeping in my bed and knead and purr and 'nurse' one of my blankets. Kinda gross when you consider the cat slobber, but they're quite happy. On to our problem.... Eggplant loves Moki, our Ragdoll. He is very much adjusted to our home. He comes when we call him and shares food bowls, etc. Lucy, the female kitten my four year old rescued, named and adores, has taken to peeing in his bed. She marked it twice a couple weeks ago, It took forever and lots of treating the mattress to get it clean, and then she did it again. She got it three times before I discovered it. There is pee in his closet. Pee along one wall. Pee in clothes. He shares a room with my 11 yr old son. She has not peed in my 11 yr old's bed, but has peed in his dirty clothes, if he leaves them on the floor. I have found pee in the bathroom on clothes too, if the kids leave them after a bath. I have become a lunatic. First, we took them all to the vet to check for UTI's etc. The vet cleared all three.:) We have taken every bit of advice we can get. At the moment, Lucy has started showing food aggression (?). She began growling repeatedly while eating her dinner and has started dragging her food away from the others. She is isolating herself from everyone, except from my four year old, whom can carry her around, etc. and she follows him everywhere. She seems super attached to him. So, is she peeing on his stuff out of some type of idk what or is she marking his stuff because she is claiming him or what? We have started keeping her out of the bedrooms. Today, once he was awake, she came into the bathroom and peed on his bathtoys within seconds of entering the room. A few days ago, while he was going potty, she peed on the bathmat. Then tonight, Eggplant (loves to play in water) dumped over his water bowl and made a river in the kitchen. My son and I grabbed a towel to clean it up and within seconds, she climbed on it and peed! Ahhh! I don't know what to do! Please help!

I have 3 cats and 1 of them has started going to the bathroom on top of my refrigerator(peeing) and on my counter top (pooping). I've had to throw food away and quite frankly, it's disgusting. Does anybody know what I can do to stop this or else I'm getting rid of my cats

Ahhh! I don't know what to do! Please help! Try a Feliway diffuser to help calm the cat(s) and also put some Bach's Rescue remedy in their water. Make sure you have a litter box for each cat, plus one for the house and that they are kept scrupulously clean. I do believe you are dealing with territorial and aggression issues here, though and the Feliway and herbal tincture should help. Add additional food bowls - possibly in one of the problem areas as cats do not soil where they eat for the most part. Restricting access to most areas while this behavior is happening is absolutely your best bet. I am assuming that Lucy and your other cats are fixed. If not, I highly recommend doing that first thing. Good luck and I hope you have success with this. I know how frustrating it is!

Does anybody know what I can do to stop this or else I'm getting rid of my cats A trip to the vets is your very first order of business. There could be an issue with parasites and/or a urinary tract infection. Also make sure there are plenty of super clean litter boxes available. The rule is one per cat and one for the house. In the meantime put a dish of dry cat food on the fridge and the counter top where she has gone. Cats do not usually soil where they eat. Your vet should have more tips for you - make sure you tell them how the cat is going in high places, as that may suggest a fear issue in addition to possible illness.

Just two things, cleaning the boxe every other day is not clean! We clean ours throughout the day and do a full box change once a week. And fix your cats!!!! I'm dealing with a similar issue, see the post a few above yours. It is so frustrating!
