My wife and I took a 2 day trip to the San Juan islands earlier this week. We made sure there was ample food and water for our puddies and even had my daughter stop by and check on them. Naturaly, when we got home we were greeted with a chorus of meows and ankle rubbing. As soon as we emptied the suitcase Molly jumped in it and looked at us as if to say, "Next time I'm going with!" MEOW!

Was there one goose that tended to try and be alpha...With ours there was always one guy that loved to "goose" us...

I had been adamant about no more cats after my beloved kitty Al Bundy disappeared on Halloween night 11 years ago. He was a big yellow tabby that I got from my boss after he rode to work with her under her hood as a kitten. I was heartbroken and would not allow any more pets. About 3 1/2 years ago my daughter heard a mewing under our house. Upon investigating she found a scrawny, flea infested starving kitten of about 4 weeks old, the poor kitten's eyes were so infected and swollen that the vet could not tell at first if she had an eyeball in the socket, I really thought the vet would put her to sleep, but a round of antibiotics, eye ointments, and TLC from my daughter who was 13, and she soon bounced back. Tweek is a big, fat calico, who is now my husband's "girlfriend", She is too good to eat with the other furbabies we have adopted, and she insists upon being fed on top of the deep freezer. Since Tweek arrived, my son, not to be outdone by his sister began feeding a long haired white and gray stray, he called Fara, once again I said "No", to bringing another animal in my home, but couldn't stand the thought of her freezing outdoors, and allowed him to bring her in at dusk, one night about a month after this began, she dropped a litter of 4 under his bed. We gave away 2, but were left with Butters, a gray tuxedo kitty, and his sister Token, a black and white tuxedo marked baby. In the meantime my brother gave my daughter a 13 inch beagle..Lily. Lily has adapted well to a houseful of cats..she just thinks she is one. Lily sleeps on the arms and back of the sofa like her feline buddies. I have resigned myself to a life of constantly vacuuming, and lint brushing our clothes, and sleeping with a cat or dog every night. NO MORE cats...well.. about 8 weeks ago, my daughter found another abandoned kitten in our yard, Welcome little Pip, an adorable gray tabby who drinks my tea, and is in someone lap constantly......NO MORE CATS!!!!!!

My Boo Boo Kitty, was the last line from my other precious Baby(The grandfather)One day I decided Boo Boo Kitty needed a Buddy. So thats when Buddy came into the picture almost 4 years later.I had never gave a cat a middle name before,But Buddy had one.I named her Buddy Jean.Shortly after the had this commercial for Buddy Lee Jeans. It had this doll in it that kind of looked like Chucky Doll.So from there Buddy became Buddy Lee.My Boo Boo Kitty died 4 years ago.And this whole time Buddy Lee has just been so spoiled, that I didn't dare bring another cat home. But just a few months ago couldn't resist.I fell in love with this kitten. So after a long while trying to come up with a name.I decided Buddy needs a Pal.Buddy didn't quite see it that way,as it took almost two weeks to adjust. But they get along like Buddy and Pal's.

I find myself reaching out to pet her. As I told my sons, she was easily the most special cat that ever owned me. Sorry for the bad grammar :) Yesterday morning, my younger sister called me at 9 a.m. I thought that perhaps my daughter had called her and told her to call me. Sharon immediately asked me what was wrong (I sounded like I'd gargled with broken glass) and of course, sympathized with me greatly. But then...she told me a secret. She's pregnant!!! Considering Sharon and her husband hasn't used any birth control for 10 years, this is incredible, wonderful, amazing, stupendous news! She's had four or five miscarriages and one still birth in addition to my newphew so I have all ten digits tightly crossed and will be focusing so much energy on that little one growing in her tummy. If all goes well, this child and Jonathan (her son) will almost exactly the same 11 years apart in age that Sharon and I are. It's helping me through my grief.

when my Sneakers finishes her food, she always makes this "burying motion"...she is either telling me, "this is the nastiest food you could feed me"....or..."I'm done with this....let's bury it so nobody else eats what I have left"....just thought I would share. peace and love everyone!

Just after our mom died very prematurely, my sister gave birth to her first and only child (I couldn't concieve) and something about the one life leaving when another one was arriving helped me to learn to love all the seasons of life. I see you are on a similar path but considering the wisdom I often see you living in, that comes as no surprise to me. I know what it is like to miss an extra special pet (mine was an amazing black Sharpei) so I can imagine how you miss her.*hugs* If you have time for reading, I found a nice little book called "When Elephants Weep" that helped me. It begins with fascinating stories about elephants that includes a particularly good one from a wise old elephant trainer who had known many. He too had a long and very deep relationship with one of his beloved elephants that "was like no other". Just a thought. Just know that I am all ears for any Sophia stories you might wish to share.
