We just got back from putting Sophia down. This morning she couldn't even get up and seemed so cold and uncomfortable. I know I did the right thing. Poor timid Sophia who was so scared of everything outside the house barely moved.
She never ever let me hold her like a baby or up against me, but she did today. Maybe it's human wishing, but she seemed to understand when I told her they would help her.
Afterwards, we stopped at a store to pick up milk, and while Scott was in the store, a feather came drifting down out of the sky. I didn't see a bird anywhere around. I want to think it was Sophia letting me know her spirit has flown free of her body.
Thanks for all the good wishes.
Oh Mama-san, I am so sorry. My deepest sympathies to you and yours. Take care!

I am so sorry you have to go through that. I think we all know how it feels to lose something you care so much about. But you did the right thing for her. It's hard to put an animal down, but it is worse to let them live in pain. You helped her in her time of need, and I am sure she with be with you everyday for that reason. My thoughts are with you.

You never know...If my daughter and I are home alone at night and there is a loud noise outside..here comes Kitty to stand beside us and she growls really loud, bless her heart...which is really funny because anytime company comes over Kitty is hidding somewhere in the house and she will not come out until they leave....go figure
Kitty sounds like my cats. They also hide when company comes. It does sound like she's protective. Maybe that means there is hope for mine!

yea, I loved those pics!!! The monkey with the bird was the cutest! I love monkeys, they are so people-like. I am fine, just enjoying a day off from school...I went and visited my dad this morning, and went to see my wife at work. She has been working doubles, so I havent seen her much lately. I did some banking, shopping, and am now home watching it rain a little outside. makes me feel like a nap! have a wonderful day! peace and love,

Thank god this "knuckle dragger" didn't catch the culprit...We don't cotton much to abuse here...
You did a good thing...Hopefully this was a one time occurrence and your "culprit" grew up fast once caught...
Our youngest is part Bengal and part ?...
Found her at 4-5 weeks under the tire of my wife's car...
Wife asked if I heard a cat, and when I looked under the car, this little furball was curled up sitting behind the tire...of course we picked her up (didn't roll over her)...Her eyes were swollen shut...Probably got lost from her mom...
Pure wild animal....Had to cup her in the crook of my arm to keep her calm at the vet...Had to be mom until her eyes recovered...
Very dedicated animal...But still can't pet her with out growls, hissing, spitting, and of course my favorite...Wrapping around my forearm and laying on of teeth...
She will dent my skin with her fangs and just stop and look at me as if to say, "You know I could do it"...Then turn loose and walk away...
Then jump back up and start again...
Sleeps in my lap...but won't let us touch her...
I had offers to attend to the matter if you follow, but when they left, what then for my remaining cats? Had to consider those. I won't say more. shhhhhhh!!!!!

I can relate to your wild kitty. You do well that she will sleep in your lap. We have a feral,
she was hiding under the garden chalet (as we laughing call it, two sheds joined really) tiny black kitten soaking wet through and howling for food. Would not eat if I watched, had to place it
under the chalet. Gradually placed it nearer the house and one day managed to catch her.
Since then, never let her go.
Now here is a thing, we recently aquired a tiny 7 year old Yorkshire Terrier female dog. I am home all day and so am with them constantly, she is now used to the cats but they are all a little wary, although at least twice her size. But when Milly appeared, although she is the smallest, the Yorkie backed away.

So sorry...You did what you had to do and she let you know when it was time...

They do know when their time is close and really respond to their humans...

I don't think they ever leave...

They just keep coming back in different clothes...

I would love to see it taken far more seriously as well. People who hurt animals are cowards.

Oh Mama, I am so sorry. Big huge internet hugs to you and yours. Sophia is much happier now though, and no longer in pain, and just think, she will be waiting for you in the afterlife.

All my best to you and yours,

Well....speaking from a personal experience perspective, animals tend to be very "aware' with those who would help them if they can, my old apartment complex people had issues with the canadian geese but I could sit down among them and feed them by hand(and have pics to prove it).

Grrrrrrrrrrrr at the one who hurt Oliver. I would really like to see those crimes taken far more seriously and with much greater penalty, considering what we know about cruelty to animals frequently being a good indicator of other seriously bad things. Glad to hear he is enjoying a full recovery.
Thanks for that Hippy. What happened was, I paid a visit to a neighbour whose land it happened on, and he pointed me in the direction of two lads who he had given permission to shoot on his land.
The RSPCA Inspector wanted the Police to confiscate the weapon, but the police officer concerned didn't think it serious enough to follow through, the RSPCA were prepared to do ballistics on the pellets. I pointed out to the bobby that it could be a child next time, thinking this may 'up' the offence in his eyes, but he dragged his feet, the kid got rid of the weapon.
But that was three years ago and the cat is fine, and no further incidents, so we feel fortunate in that respect.

Dogs seem to know about cats...

And the smart cats know the bad dogs...

When I was a kid, my Siamese would attack the neighborhood German Shepherd if the dog crossed in to our backyard...

We would hear a yelp and then see the dog running out of the yard with an 18 pound Siamese firmly attached to his hind end...

I lived at a complex with a stock pond and geese in the back...

We fed them Purina Cat Chow...The all around animal food...

Came home from work one night and my roommate had taken my mountain bike out for a spin...He left the back door open...

When I came in there were 6 BIG geese (20lb) walking around my cat with no eyes (Jose) trying to get to the food bowl...

I had to use the "trail of cat food" method to get them out...

Let the roommate clean up that mess...

We can hope the little demon had the fear of god placed into him...

Sometimes that is all it takes and Oliver did a good thing and got a perfect human for his sacrifice...

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aquarius

The emotional atmosphere is quite potent under this Lunar Eclipse, evoking a sense of crisis. The problems you've been experiencing with a certain person lately come to a head during the next fortnight, making you feel that you have to take drastic action or lay down the law. Yet this could make the situation worse than ever, especially if you act from a sense of panic or desperation. Take things gently and don't throw your weight around unless it's absolutely necessary.
