People that own that many animals are usually pretty weird, but after reading the Corker Hill blog, they sound fairly reasonable.

I do know one thing: Once the government gets involved, things go downhill pretty quickly. Local politics are no exception.

So ... who seems more 'nutty?'

The Township, or the Bird Lady?

That is if you believe the blog. Look who wrote it, the Bird Lady.

with regards to the offered comments:
1 adn 3. we sleep just fine. many of these birds are "sloughs" from when i owned my practice. the owners no longer wanted them and i agreed to adopt them and provide care for them rather than have them go to a local animal sheler. While these folks do a superb job of finding homes for dogs and cats, birds require unique care and they are not equipped or trained to foster them appropriately.
and, i didn"t throw away a $300,000 gift.
so, who do you think is more "nutty"?

Good Lord!

$500 is being added to the cost of every new home to help fund Dave Jamison's little park. Funny, I don't remember the residents of Greene Township being asked to vote on the imposition of this tax (call it a fee if you want, but it is a tax).

I agree with the $500 fee for a new house.
It beats a income tax you have to pay every year.
I only hope it is built as soon as possible and that it includes most if not all of what Guilford did with Norlo Park. It is really nice.
Lets quit mooching off Chambersburg and it's recreational options. Lets get building...

The "idiots" are so clueless that they have managed to keep the township property tax at a big fat ZERO percent for many, many years.

Now that is the township property tax, not the county or school district tax that residents have to pay regardless of where they live.

I'm still wondering why they didn't level the old elevator building at the park. Instead they just built the parking lot around it, literally.

Having been an employee of the local animal shelter, and even as a veterinary technician, I wholeheartedly agree with Dr. Fiskett's evaluation of the average shelter employee's knowledge of avian care. I would prefer to call on the expertise of an avian specialist to care for any bird that came into the shelter when I was kennel manager there. I know the basics of avian care, but I certainly would not be the best person to house the bird. I don't own any, and never have or will. I like them, and enjoy the ones my friends have immensely, but never having lived with them, I cannot know what a bird expert would. By housing the birds that would have wound up in a shelter or worse, Dr. Fiskett is doing the community a great service.

Silly you is correct.

Let's see, these "cluless bozos" have lead a township that;
has had a ZERO Property & Real Estate tax for 30+ years,
they have the BEST snow-ice removal program in south central PA,
they go above and beyond when it comes to supporting & assisting the volunteer fire & EMS depts,
they have some of the best built & maintained roads in the area

and oh yea, how much are our Greene Twp taxes????????

I admit I don't see eye to eye with Dave, especially over this park deal, but this is one of the best twps in the region, hands down!!!

Talk about mooching. When are they gonna get some police protection. Police reports every day are full of crime from good old Greene.

And this is one of the items I butt heads with Dave all the time about.

I'm glad someone is being a thorn in the side of jamison and the other driftwood out there. Those twp higher ups think they are in Congress the way they throw their weight around. I don't know the people that own that house but i'm glad they are sticking it to the man on this one.

I see that Dave Jamison and his local gang are on their high horses again. I have had some dealings with that bunch and they are a bunch of guys who think they are the enforcers. I know Paul Fiskett and he and his wife have been harassed by Greene supervisors (especially Dave) ever since the so called “park” was started. I was at a meeting several years back and Jamison treated Paul very disrespectful. So far nothing has ever been completed (except for walking trails) that all the public can enjoy. There is a real nice parking lot for all the big trucks and plows. Paul Fiskett needs to see his lawyer and see what he can do about a class action against suit Jamison and the boy

Why doesn't Greene Township just stop - this is totally ridiculous to try and oust these people from their home....why didn't the township buy it back in 1999? Thank god I don't live in Greene Township - but I suppose living in Guilford Township isn't any better - I have never been, nor plan on going to Norlo Park. Guilford Township caters to the Penn National area.....at least they have public water - hey Greg - what ever happened to the 10 year plan to put public water in the Honey Rock Development? Oh thats right - Penn National grew......silly me...

Wow $1million and all we have to show is a ball field for the high school. Wasn't it $15,000 per year the school district will pay to rent the field. If they don't do any maintenance to the field it should pay itself off in 67 years.

What walking trail ?? All I see is a b-ball field.
That walking trail better be asphalt not stones, but I wouldn't put it past Dave to only have stones. He won't even put in stop signs to slow down traffic in developments to make our kids safe.
