Then, we could shock both Reps & Dems by voting for an Independent (providing we could find anyone decent enough & brave enough to enter that world). Ask Lou Dobbs if being a Independent carries any penalties???

T.V. Personalities lost my interest a long time ago. Whomever is the top Newscaster isn't as important to me as sifting through the biased reporting in an effort to understand what may or may not be truly happening. Speculation & Opinions on Speculation & Opinions I find a bit irritating. Is Lou Dobbs Independent?

The article title says rich, lookout -
The bill passed by the b o l s h e v i k s in congress maybe 2000 pages long - but none the less you can read where the middle class is going to get hit hard.
And anyone that doesn't have health insurance MUST buy it or face fines and imprisonment says queen nancy.
So if your 18 and not covered, you pay, if that's what you call "rich".

BBC and such generally do a good job of reporting what is really happening. It's sad that we can't trust our own media to tell the truth.

It's sad that we can't trust our own media to tell the truth. Eventually Jon Klein, the network’s president, had had enough. He reportedly gave Dobbs an ultimatum: tone down the harsh opinions and tune up the hard news, or get out. Dobbs decided to get out. At the end of his broadcast Wednesday Dobbs announced it would be his last on CNN, as he planned to pursue new interests that would allow him to to "engage in constructive problem-solving as well as to contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day." Mystery Solved,Say what we want,or get out!

Lou felt strongly about illegal immigration and some other issues and to me he was just trying to keep them from being buried the main stream media.

However, the health care bill would impose new taxes on people who don't buy qualified health insurance, including those making less than $250,000 a year. He lied. The middle class will suffer once again. The health care plan will fail unless EVERYONE pays into it. And it would be a fine, not a tax. Everyone should have to pay into it, unless they are destitute. Do you want to refuse to pay, and then when you get cancer, or in a car accident, you want to be taken care of at the expense of those who DO pay in???? If you are not destitute, you should HAVE to pay. Otherwise there won't be enough money in the sytem to make it work!!

It is the largest mandated TAX INCREASE in world history. It also does not reduce the costs of actual health care, but increases them through TAXES too. Get your story straight. TAX INCREASE - HEALTH INSURANCE - INCREASES HEALTH CARE COSTS..... Have a wonderful TAX increase, it will be passed on to everyone who actually purchases anything made in America as these new taxes on companies will have to be passed on through to the consumer too. It is almost like having to pay these taxes over and over again to support all the new government jobs.

NO NEW TAXES on him....they will have to wait to collect from this millionaire...this will be just like many of the other "rich"... ...and who will have to come up with the difference? the middle class.....

The big central government brain has passed the bill to regional, who in turn leave it at the bar with local. At some point the fella sitting next to where the well fed have eaten, will be told that prices must go up or the place will need to close. This is life in the big city.

NMresident wrote: I have no problem with the rich being taxed. As was noted, Bush gave them a big cut during his tenure which put us back on the road to irresponsible deficit spending. The Bush tax cuts increased revenue, therefore your "irresponsible deficit spending" doesn't hold water Of course it didn't help that Bush also started an unnecessary war in Iraq, added a costly prescription drug benefit program, grew the federal govt and bailed out the financial failures. Why should the rich pay more? For a number of reasons: Access & Influence. They typically have access to those who are in a position of power thus they are able to influence policy and seek favorable govt benefits like credits, subsidies, etc. Don't think so, who attends those $5000 a plate fund raisers. Look who has had the most visits to the Obama White House. UNION Cost to our criminal system; when it comes to our criminal justice, the wealthy are able to hire the best, use legal manuevering, etc to game the system to their advantage. Try dealing with the system if you have little extra money! The result besides the one to the client, is the cost born to taxpayers for all the gamemanship which is very expensive. More money is spent on lower income people in courts than the upper income. Can hire the best tax advisors; when it comes to paying taxes, the wealthy have access to experts that can find the loopholes, gray areas, etc and provide advice to minimize their tax liability. By loopholes, do you mean deductions? Wealthy don't serve. When it comes to serving in our military, you will find the vast majority of those serving come from the bottom half of the economic scale, its rare for the wealthy to serve. Looks like McCain and Palin both had sons in Iraq. Same goes for govt service, the exception being those powerful elected positions which take lots of money to obtain. I could also bring up the "luck" factor as it has been shown that plain ole "luck" plays a significant factor in the wealth factor. So does IQ and hard work.
