Have a wonderful TAX increase, it will be passed on to everyone who actually purchases anything made in America as these new taxes on companies will have to be passed on through to the consumer too. It is almost like having to pay these taxes over and over again to support all the new government jobs.

Of course it didn't help that Bush also started an unnecessary war in Iraq, added a costly prescription drug benefit program, grew the federal govt and bailed out the financial failures.
Why should the rich pay more? For a number of reasons:
Access & Influence. They typically have access to those who are in a position of power thus they are able to influence policy and seek favorable govt benefits like credits, subsidies, etc. Don't think so, who attends those $5000 a plate fund raisers.

Cost to our criminal system; when it comes to our criminal justice, the wealthy are able to hire the best, use legal manuevering, etc to game the system to their advantage. Try dealing with the system if you have little extra money! The result besides the one to the client, is the cost born to taxpayers for all the gamemanship which is very expensive.

Can hire the best tax advisors; when it comes to paying taxes, the wealthy have access to experts that can find the loopholes, gray areas, etc and provide advice to minimize their tax liability.

Wealthy don't serve. When it comes to serving in our military, you will find the vast majority of those serving come from the bottom half of the economic scale, its rare for the wealthy to serve.

I could also bring up the "luck" factor as it has been shown that plain ole "luck" plays a significant factor in the wealth factor.
