Health care plan hits rich with big tax increases

They can afford it. Hell after the last 8 years where Bush put the entire burden on the middle class and poor as the rich got a free ride, it’s about time they step up and pay their fair share as we all pull our nation out of the murky mess that Bush and the republican policies got us into.

Obama promised during the presidential campaign that he would not increase taxes on couples making less than $250,000. However, the health care bill would impose new taxes on people who don't buy qualified health insurance, including those making less than $250,000 a year.

He lied. The middle class will suffer once again.

The real rich are the ones who can afford to move themselves and their companies out of the country before obama's new taxes take effect.
The middle class will be left behind to pick up the new taxes.
America's super rich will continue to hide their assets behind personally owned charities and dodge taxes altogether. Bill Gates has put most of his billions into tax dodge charities THAT HE OWNS. Warren Buffet has just put 30 billion dollars into Gates' charities to hide his wealth from the tax man. Oprah Winfrey dodges taxes the very same way by diverting her wealth into HER PERSONALLY OWNED CHARITIES.

Instead of for all...Obama focuses on minorities.

We need a president for ALL.

Ahhhh yes, here comes the taxes on everyone. Not just the rich. And, if you as an individual decide not to take their healthcare plan and decide that you wll just pay out of pocket. You will have to pay a fine to the government.

This plan is nothing more than a power grab by our government. They can then use healthcare to dictate every part of your life. What you drive, what you eat, what you do for activities, because everything dictates healthcare cost. It is about control over you. And we the people are going to fund it.

We now know that most of the obama campaign promises were lies, so the $250K/yr number was just more smoke. The median income in the US is around $48K/yr. If you make more than that, half the country would consider you rich. The rich will indeed pay.

who do you think is already paying for the 50%?

let's go to a flat tax or a national sales tax...so that "EVERYONE pays their fair share."

besides.....if I were "one of the rich", I would continue to do what many of them are doing currently...."take $1.00 salary and take the rest in stock futures"...

and when the "rich's" fair share gets cuts to zero....

...the middle class will have to have a tax increase to pay for everything that has been "promised" by the "president"

The really rich don't buy insurance, They just pay the doctor!
The real reason the rich give money to various charities instead of the tax man, is to control it's distribution. It goes where they want it to go, not in some bureaucrat's pockets. "There is nothing sinister about arranging none's affairs to pay the minimum tax" SCOTUS Justice, Keenesaw Mountain Landis. This still America. We are not totally under their thumbs yet!

ummm, we all enjoyed the 3% tax cut...why do you think it was only the rich that got it?

and the dow was at 14,000...and everyone that had money in the stock market(401k) enjoyed that also... and some of us who didn't get greedy...got out around that time and put it in safer accounts to ride out the storm....

the ones that wanted MORE gains didn't quit while they were ahead and lost 40-50%...

Obama will let the tax cuts expire...and we will all be paying 3% more (at least)...watch.

*the rich will do what many of them are doing now...taking a $1.00 in salary...and the rest in stock futures...to avoid paying the "Obama tax"... that's why they're rich...because they are smart... a lot smarter than him.

you're right. in addition to the penalties, those individuals who do buy insurance won't be subsidized after $66K in income (for a family of four).Where I live that is barely middle class.

most of us who have coverage through their companies will see their premiums rise. and we already pay extra in state taxes to fund Medicaid--imagine when those costs jump with ObamaCare's plan to swell those who qualify for Medicaid.
