Thank goodness for the stimulus! The economy of the entire San Gabriel Valley would collapse if Jim's Bakery went under!

This is a perfect example of why the community organizers plan does not creat jobs in quantities sufficient to justify the expenditure. Lets examine each one.
1. The bakery owner says she would have had to jump through hoops to get a commercial loan. I wonder why? Could it be that a commercial lender wnats better than an even chance that they will get the loan repaid? She plans to move to a new location but is down 4 employees. Looks like a net gain of 26 employees (maybe) cost an average of $20,000 if the loan is not paid back. I guess the community organizer counted 30 new jobs even though that is in the future, maybe.
2. El Monte cost to the taxpayer was $400,000 per officer, such a deal. Or another way to look at it is a net loss of 11 for $2.4 million. Wow and another 75 TEMPORARY jobs in the future, maybe.
Just a few examples of government waste.

I would have liked to see the outside of Mr. Jim's bakery: were there any signs in English?

This is unbelievable.

The owners of Jim's Bakery were distraught that they would "face obstacles" in getting a loan from a bank.

Yeah, those "obstacles" happen to include the reality that banks only lend money to people/businesses who are good risks !

If the owners were good risks, and were able to demonstrate a good business plan, they should be able to get a loan from a bank.

In other words, our federal tax dollars are being wasted on owners of a failing business who cannot find a bank to lend to them.

What a waste.

Left wing Democrats simply do not understand basic economics.

And if these Democratic members of Congress think it is so wonderful to provide tax money to failing businesses, why don't they just vote for across the board tax cuts in the first place ?

And if all of the potential customers of Jim's Bakery continue to be over-taxed, and therefore do not have the discretionary income in order to spend money at Jim's Bakery, how is Jim's Bakery going to succeed ?

In order to generate economic investment in entrepreneurial projects as well as generate increased consumer spending, people need to have MORE discretionary income.
That means tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts.

Get a clue Democrats.

The fact is, most of the "stimulus" money were just hand-outs to government agencies and Democratic supporters.

blah blah blah blah. This stimulus was crap.A temporary fix to a permanent problem. And look who got the loan (wink wink). If i applied for it it would be screw you even though ive been here my whole life paying taxes to this govt. There is no permanent jobs being created. Most of it is temp work and the count each time a person get a temp job as 1 job.So if I worked for 10 days at 10 different places the govt counts it as 10 jobs being created.Did they mention when they print money for this stimulus the dollar takes a dump. The dollar today compared to just 9 years ago is .70 cents. But my salary hasnt gone up.Its called inflation.Us older folks remember Jimmy Carter. We need to stop this madness. We have to vote in 2010 strong so we can get pelosi and her cronies out! Next time chus seat is up im running for it.Watch out Judy, the gravy train might be over.

YOUR taxes at work. I wonder how much stimulus money El Monte will use to find a new city manager. One that doesn't spend his descretionary income in Pomona.
