After the Clinton Apology and this court ruling, will the malihini and anti-maoli haole NOW admit that there were and are valid injustices perpetrated on our native brothers and sisters?

It's about time - 20 years of stalling by the State. In 1999, Ben Cayetano refused to uphold the state's commitment to see the individual claims process through and unwisely vetoed funding for that legislative scheme to work, forcing claimants to go to court 10 years ago. Now, a judge has agreed with what claimants have been saying for 2 decades - the state is financially responsible for mistreating 2721 native Hawaiians between 1959 and 1988. The State has spent millions fighting to stop this outcome for that long - for what? To deny simply justice to our first citizens of the State!

Less we forget how long and arduous this process has taken and its still not over! The plaintiffs feel the state will appeal!

Appeal where?

SC?

1991: State panel created to address breach of trust claims

1995: 2,752 claims filed by the Aug. 30 deadline.

1999: Governor Cayetano vetoes legislative bill to extend panel work for one year; panel sunsets.

2000: Circuit Judge Marks rules that claimants have a right to sue the state and decision is appealed by the state.

2006: In a 5-0 decision, Hawaii Supreme Court Judge Moon writes that claimants have right to seek monetary damages in Circuit Court.

2009: Circuit Judge Hifo upholds decision that claimants have right to sue for monetary damages.

Acutally you ARE the idiot Alice! Note how the word is spelled in the Hawaiian dictionary. Again, you provide us with laugher - here you are pointing a finger at someone else calling them an idiot, when you got three fingers point at you, the GREATER idiot!
"nvs. Hawaiʻi (both the island and the group of islands); Hawaiian person; Hawaiian. Elsewhere in Polynesia, Hawaiʻi or a cognate is the name of the underworld or of the ancestral home, but in Hawaiʻi the name has no meaning; see Pukui, Elbert, and Mookini, 1974. See saying, kuauli. hoʻo.hawaiʻi To act as a Hawaiian; to ape or imitate Hawaiians.(PPN Sawaiki.)"

I salute Irene Coreiro-Vierra for trying so hard to get homeland....she has worked hard and if you drive by 55-050 Kamehameha Hwy in Laie you can see the fruits of her hard labor....a home anyone would be proud to own or live in. Her son Richard Vierra (who works at HRI Hawaii Reserves Inc, at Laie Shopping Center), lives there too.

Imua Irene!....may other Hawaiians follow your example

Your attitude is born of ignorance. In the old days, if an alii would have heard you say that, he would have ordered you beaten to within an inch of your life. Remember that they killed Kekuaokalani. In the sandalwood days and later it was the chiefs taking advantage of the commoners. And we all welcomed the haole, many married haole, including Pauahi and Liliu, and it was largely due to haole expertise and advice that we remained sovereign for so long. And unless you are pure Hawaiian, you are denigrating your own ancestors. And it is precisely this attitude that is preventing so many of our people from moving on to better things. Goodness does not depend on blood.
I agree I had a bad day and I should not have written what I did. Sometimes our dark side escapes to the light of day!
