Consider growing some of your own food to save money on groceries. Vegetable seeds and plants are covered, provided you purchase them from a grocery store that participates in the food stamp program. Planting just a few vegetables can provide several pounds worth of fresh produce for you and your family.

I also raise most of my veggies and some of my fruits and do a good bit of hunting also....But people living in an apartment cant have a garden and not all people can or do hunt...Even if they could nto enough wildlife to go around for all.

You are right about people living in an apt......But if the apt has any grassy land around it, perhaps arrangements can be made with Landlord to utilize that area for community, family, or singular garden...But anyway , which fruits do you eat and why must one eat them?

You do realize you are advocating for communism right?(Community Garden)

No private apt landlord is going to allow tenants to plant on their property anyway so your idea is fantasy.

God the stupidity is overwhelming.

Several apartment communities in my area have been doing this for a few years now. It seems to be working.

How can you speak for all landlords? Before my husband and I bought our first house, we lived in an apartment building where the landlord lived on the first floor. He allowed us plant vegetables in the yard. Some landlords value their tenants and allow them the privilege of planting vegetables and even flowers on their property.

Yeah if it allegedly works for you then it must work everywhere right??

Ultimately it is up to the landlord, and not the community. That's the point and why it doesn't work as a system.

I KNOW you're dead wrong. I know 1,000,000,000,000 to the 10th power more than you know about eating healthy. Besides I'm taking about the costs of eating healthy versus eating junk food. Who cares about what your own personal diet is? I don't. The indesputable FACT is someone with half a brain CAN eat healthy on the cheap. I have proven it by giving verifiable examples of HOW. All you give is rhetoric and BS. Me >> You

What's your point? To me it doesn't matter if it works as a "system", I'm not lobbying to get any systems in place, I'm just saying it works in my neighborhood.

Oh shut up dumb shite!!!!!!! I am right...You can say chicken breast...That is one meal....and you cant eat that every meal of the day 7 days a week..THAT IS NOT A HEALTHY DIET!!!!

I get what your saying.....There is some healthy replacements..Problem is the vast majority of healthy foods cost way more then fat garbage food...I do think when it comes to food stamps it they should be used fro REAL food only no chips or canned garbage or pop and such...If we have to give the people who get food stamps more each month so they cna buy good food I say great...

Well then your statement was irrelevant to the discussion being had.

The poster was promoting it as a system.

You don't know shit about healthy foods and the economy retard.

Why do you think major food corporations use high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar in everything?

Lower Cost moron.

Why do you think Mcdonalds and other fast food chains use pink slime in their meat?

Lower Cost moron.

Junk food is far cheaper to buy than healthy foods, anyone that's ever gone to a grocery store knows this.

Only kids like you who have never actually paid for groceries can spew this nonsense.

You dummy, if you're poor and on food stamps you can't expect to eat like you're dining from a buffet table at the Hilton. There are PLENTY of healthy replacements for junk food.

15 years ago, back when I was low-income and when you were just starting out on your health food crusade, I would buy whole chickens for around 2 bucks and boil them in a pot. It made for 2-3 dinners. Cheap, healthy food. Now of course chickens aren't 2 bucks anymore but then neither are Hungry Man's.

You're so full of shit. I bet you've never paid for groceries your own damn self. A true food stamp welfare queen who wouldn't know the value of a dollar if it pinched their ass and called them mommy. Of course, if you knew how to shop smart you wouldn't be in the predicament you're in, right?
