I wonder how Chris Tolles would feel if he were the father I saw posting on Topix on the Palo Alto forum. A local troll was posting he was raping his own son, over and over again. The posts would be removed, more would be posted. They laughed at him there, in Palo Alto.

Topix needs reform, not to be shut down. I have never joined Toxic Topix and have been blocked from commenting on their FB page, simply because I post on Topix, something they do not believe in.

The CEO needs to take action to deal with all the slander and harassment that goes on here, slander and harassment that are life-threatening sometimes. I have seen so much of it. Too much. Many more fair moderators are needed here and the Mods need to stop wasting their time on targeting anyone who speaks out, proving only defensiveness.

Chris Tolles himself has asked for the posters on Topix to make it the forum they want, yet all too often when they try and do this, they are stopped. Fear tactics are used, to make people afraid to speak out, but trolls are some of the least fearful people on the planet. I have also argued, that making trolls angry is one of the stupidest things you can do.

No one knows Topix better, than the people who post here, their advice should be sought out, listened to. Let their comments stand, don't delete them. Prove how loyal Topix is to the Free Speech, which many times I have seen the CEO claim he is a champion of.

I have said of Topix, it is the Outer Limits of Free Speech, there is potential in that, it should not be feared.

Yes, mandatory registration would make for more accountability here.

There is too little empathy in the management, for sure, they do not care about the lives being ruined here. They feel legal protection is all they need. They are not thinking about the number of enemies they generate by the life-ruining harassment some have faced here, people moving from their hometowns, suicides.

For example, I saw a man being severely harassed by a thread where they even were posting fake police reports about him, saying he was raping a 14 year old, it was all fabricated but the stress he went through, was considerable. There is NO reason for something like that to happen with oversight. There is very little oversight here, the thread had many comments on it, he was harassed for weeks, before it was finally removed. The damage to his life, was already done.

To hide from responsibility for this, using the shield of legal protection, is short-sighted and yes, cowardly. There is no way Chris Tolles would want to endure that kind of harassment to his life.

This has added to their feelings of immunity from any responsibility for what happens here, feelings that are not based in reality.

Of course they are responsible for what goes on, on their site! They are not responsible for the actions of the posters here, but they are responsible for supporting those actions.

However, if anonymous posters are harassing another anonymous poster, there is nothing yo can do. I know, I am a victim myself. So when people bash me first, i bash them back. I even tell them to come face me one on one, give them a time and place, but they never show up.

I have also had to fight back hard here, I am very heavily attacked, my life threatened, threatened with rape, the works.

I like the comeback my friend told me, when they said they were going to come to her home. She said, Make sure you bring a body bag with you big enough to take home all your parts.

And what does this mean? Nothing. It doesn't mean the crimes have not happened, that's for sure.
