Eshoo seeks county bailout from Lehman losses

The federal government should buy the troubled assets of local jurisdictions, like San Mateo County, which suffered significant losses due to the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, according to a bipartisan collection of California lawmakers.

The group, including U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, sent a letter last week to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson seeking him to use his authority under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 to purchase the assets.

Somehow I doubt it will trickle down this far. At least we have Sand Hill Road.
