I support Chief Johnson.
The comments causing such an uproar were taken out of context, and twisted to serve the purposes of a non-issue. Probable cause is why individuals are stopped, not race. If the suspect is wear blue jeans and a green t-shirt, then people matching that description will be stopped, period. It doesn't help the problem if you're hanging around an area where there has been a crime. A friend of mine used to get stopped every time she drove through downtown Palo Alto residential streets late at night. The police did not know she was merely taking a friend home from work after swing shift. This friend is very Caucasian, and female. No racial profiling. Circumstance profiling, perhaps, but nothing racial. Stop being where crimes are committed, and stop whining if you ignore this advice and get stopped. Fools. |
