Man dies in skydiving accident in Zephyrhills

I'll never understand why someone would jump out of a perfectly good airplane and call it a sport.

Because you will never feel more alive. Incidents happen with all sports, not to mention everyday life.

Yes incidents do happens in sports unfortunately an incident in skydiving has a high likely hood in resulting in death. People willing to risk there lives for an adrenaline rush have serious mental issues and should consider seeking psychiatric help. Is your life so boring that you need to jump out of a plane for fun? If your life is that boring maybe you should reevaluate your life.

While I am not one of those type people. I do not think we as humans or Americans would have advanced to where we are now without them. We as a species need risk takers to survive. God bless this man may he rest in peace.

Ya we do need risk takers but it's all about calculated risk not just risk for risks sake.

My daughter is a Tandem Master and AFL coach at Skydive San Marcos. She is one of only a small handful of female Tandem Masters in the world. She has been jumping for about 4 years and has made almost 2000 jumps. I used to worry every time she jumped. Over time I have come to understand the sport a little better and I even made a jump myself. Of course something could go wrong. I know it. She knows it. But I have never seen anyone as safety conscious as she is. She was trained by one of the best skydiving instructors in America. But, even with all the preparation and rigid adherence to safety factors, there can still be accidents. When I mention these concerns to her, she says, "Dad...please be assured that I am as concerned about safety, about my life, about the lives of those that I take as tandem passengers, as I can possibly be. But know that, if anything ever goes wrong, and I die, that I died doing something that I truly love to do, and be happy for me."

She has my greatest respect.Where would the world be without brave souls, who are willing to take risk. Look at the right Brothers. I've jumped all my life, and i'm 70, and if you haven't jumped, i'd keep my mouth shut, and next time you climb in an aircraft, remember , you have no parachute.

U know something...ur absolutly right, even though skydiving is not on my priority list; were would we b if it wasn't 4 ppl who take risks?? Relax ppl...we take risks by just comming out the door of our homes.

I'm glad that there are people like you that sit in front of your TV's and do nothing but moan and criticize and make excuses for why you have never achieved anything. As Henry Van Dyke said: Some people are so afraid do die that they never begin to live. Enough said.

There are a couple things you should know....THERE ARE NO PERFECTLY GOOD AIRPLANES, and skydiving takes an enormous amount courage/dedication/skill to be able to jump out of an airplane traveling at 100+knots up around 14000ft and know how to truly fly or fall which ever you prefer.....and I believe that skydiving is much more exciting than golf...how can you call THAT a sport?

There's no sense argueing with these people as they just don't understand the journey of life,"some say life is a journey to the grave in the hope of arriving in a pristine well preserved body...While I say you should come skidding in sideways ,body wasted tottally used up with a bottle of JACK in one hand and a stoogie in the other, screaming WHAA-HOOO what a ride!!! Let's just say he was doing something he loved to do when the end came.

I'd like to say that statisticly speaking, it is MUCH more dangerous to drive a car. God knows all the crazy idiots on the roads these days, yet most people drive!! Should you live in fear and not go outside your house because you might get into an accident? Or should you enjoy your freedom and live the life you choose? That guy wanted to jump from that airplane and he accepted the risks involved, just like anyone accepts the risks of getting into a car accident when they drive. Because you accept the risk, does NOT mean you want to get into an accident or die! The idea here is to enjoy life and do what you want.
I wish Blue Skies in heaven to that dude!=)
