Thanks for the advice. I may have check into that. I can never come up with anything worthwhile for Christmas and that may be it.
It would be excellent for you. I may buy one for my girls. I already have 2 Remington Wingmasters, 1 in 12 guage and 1 in 16 guage. Plus I have my deceased stepdad's Winchester 1200 in 12 guage. A pump gun is almost as fast to operate as a semi-auto shotgun in experienced hands. And they have what I consider an advantage over the semis, with a dud round you can just wrack it out & a new one in quicker than doing the same with a semi. A pump shotgun would be my first choice in home defense situations.

<quoted text>“Messy” deserves an explanation. In my early years (40 years ago), most of my gun hunting was done using deer drives where a group of four or five men would walk through woods and cover and drive deer towards hunters standing on the ground. Shots were more often than not, taken at moving deer at ground level so shot placement was not precise. The portable tree stand was not yet invented and permanent tree stands were sometimes used to advantage, but mostly, we resorted to drives.
Deer drives are not allowed here in Nova Scotia by men or dogs. I stalk most of my animals and keep the eagle eye open when checking my traps. Never know when a deer will appear right in front of you. This scene hasn't changed in a century as even the old timers kept their rifle handy and one eye open on the landscape just in case. Think most of you whether hunters or not will appreciate this imagery by a pretty talented artist.

Not really. When you see an apple, you call it an apple . When you see a nut, you call it a nut and if its cracked you call it a "Tierra Vegan." .

You brought to mind an old deceased trapper friend of mine from a trapper forum, Wolverine. Lewis Quarles was a "Salt of the Earth," type of guy that loved the Lord and trapping foxes in Maryland. A real gentleman.
He was a very respected member of his community and being a trapper during the 1930 era up to around 2002 he couldn't understand how some folk could be such terrorists over trapping. He had a new neighbor from away move into Lewis home area and the guy DESPISED Lewis because Lewis trapped. The farmers begged Lewis to trap foxes and the guy tried to get the farmers to find other ways of controlling foxes without trapping them. Being farmers who knew Lewis and respected him ,they told the guy to S-u-c-K eggs.
One day Lewis started down his driveway and couldn't get his brakes to work. He smashed up his truck although he never got hurt himself. The police had to be called in and investigate the incident because Lewis's the brake lines had been tampered with. The cops were pretty sure they knew who cut them but at the time of Lewis death they still hadn't made an arrest. They figured it was the Animal Rights guy and when they questioned him they were even more sure but they lacked physical evidence to put a case together. You keep your head up buddy because those folks can take hatred to levels that indicate control over the opposition is more important then compassion..
Their hatred will not let them think straight - advantage me. I have police & soldier training & experience x almost 12 years - advantage me. Dogs in neighborhood - advantage me. House full of guns & ammo - advantage me. State trooper friend & neighbor - advantage me. My home turf - advantage me. 9 adults living in this household - advantage me. They will lose if they try anything here. Thanks for the concern. I have never hidden very much about myself & have probably given to much personal info on here, but I have all the advantages here at home. And they are lowlife scum & thugs who will try their crimes under the cover of face masks & darkness, but will lose, with either some serious injuries and jail time or the ultimate price being paid for their perverse iniquities. I will not be assaulted, threatened, intimidated, or harassed because I hunt, trap or fish, which are all legal recreation in this country.

Me too....were a mom and pop shop. I know most of our customers by name. We tend to help out the elderly ALOT as sometimes they have no one...when they start adding fees for that, I will quit.

Agreed...and that is what our place's reputation is built on, I have one of the most caring crew of people working with me and every customer counts, we know most everyone. My team has worked together for years to make our community better...we will continue to do so and play things by ear for now.

One of my neighbors is a real character. He puts sticky notes in his window. One day the note might read "watch out for the bull he might be behind the house today." Another day the note might read " Hey sis, don't go in the house!!! We had to leave for town and I don't trust Brutus or Caesar when family isn't home with them. You know how finicky Brutus the Rottie or Caesar the Pincer are around strangers and non residents?" Come to think of it he hasn't had a home invasion either. Then again the two five gallon pails on the front step with Brutus & Caesar written on them like they were lunch buckets ready to be filled with red meat might help with his game plan. Wink.
That is just too funny.....I love it. I cant trust my shepard either...my hubby stays with him so I can visit home to Boston....the last time I had the farmer next door (who the dog saw daily) come in to care for him, the first time he put the key in the door the dog had him by the arm before he knew what hit him....I felt so bad but at the same time was reassured that he will always do his job here. The neighbor was good about it casue when I look over his home there is an entire herd of goats, 4 horses, dogs, cats, pigs and turkeys...have we had some crazy times.

<quoted text>If my memory serves me, Patty mentioned that she lost her child about 5 years ago. I can tell you that the wound is still fresh after five years. Myself, at 10 years, I can now get through a day without weeping, but at five, the whole was still big and empty and I could not get through the day without that melancholy feeling of loss. I still cannot go to his grave side without being torn-up. My wife, on the other hand goes several times each week and it is good for her.
My point is this; I give Patty a wide lane to travel in when it comes to this subject. I try not to judge her reactions to it or her motives regarding it. On the other hand, I do not allow it to excuse her behavior in other areas.
I understand what you are saying. After what we have been thru the last 4 weeks with our daughter I can tell you I do not have a clue to what you or any of the others that have lost children have gone thru. We found out today that all her test results including the ultrasound came back negative for masses or other abnormalities. It was a GOOD day. They are treating the e-coli more aggressively now. It is a day of celebration. I baked a wild blackberry and wild raspberry pie today. Put that together with beef dumpling soup and we have a well fed and happy little girl for the first time in a long time.
Thank the Lord!!! And thank you all for your prayers!!!!

Hi Michele, the mentos and soda thing is funny. They have some funny experiments on that show Mythbusters - my husband loves that show.
