If you are talking to me, nope, I lived in what was considered a "good" part of the Northeast and even that wasn't so hot. Had our car broken into several times, had a car stolen, friends' kids jumped for their cell phones, help at gun point for their bikes, and all sorts of craziness. And that was in what is considered the "Ok' part of Philly. Not one of the worst neighborhoods like West Philly, North Philly, Southwest Philly, etc. Anyway, it was going downhill fast and becoming like the other "bad" areas and we weren't gonna sit around and wait for it. Philly used to be a great place to live. Loved it when I was a teen but shortly after I graduated HS it started it's downward spiral. Anyway, not sure what the rest of your post is supposed to mean, Laurie. It doesn't make sense. As for Gettysburg, it's been great! Clean, safe, friendly, laid back, everything Philly is not and everything we were looking for.

There is no good part of the Northeast. I'm talking civilized areas, not that lower middle class wasteland. Try Rittenhouse, Washington or
Fitler Squares, Chestnut Hill/East Falls or possibly Manayunk/Roxborough. Also Society Hill or Queens Village or the Gayborhood although undesirables are still present in these neighborhoods. Of course, there are grand mansions along City Ave around Overbrook, throughout the Fairmount Park borders, and in "Center City" but these would certainly be out of reach for someone like you. Perhaps there are also rehabbed properties in places like Northern Liberties and Old City, Art Museum, etc. but you wouldn't fit in there either. The NASCAR bumper stickers on your F-150's would give you away.

Anywhere else is where someone with no other choice had to live. No one in their right mind would want to live next to some guy who looks like Boris Yeltsin wearing a wife beater and lives off disability payments. You belong in Gettysburg with your social peers.

Laurie, you're ridiculous. I am cracking up after having read your post. LOL As for having no where else to live, why the HELL would anyone in their right mind want to live in a teeny tiny "nice" section (as suggested of the few places you pointed out) of utter chaos and scum? You really think those "nice" little parts of Philly that you mention will survive forever? That they won't and can't be touched my crime? HAHAHA Yeah, and that's what people in the Northeast and Greater Northeast used to think too until the trash crept in on them and forced most of them out. Until people from other states bought out most of the property and try to manage them from afar and don't know or care what the hell is going on with said property until it's too late.

And, while I may not be able to afford one of those mansions in the center of the pit in Philly, and let's face it, NOT MANY Philadelphians can (the middle class and poor far outweigh the so called wanna be rich in Philly), I am not on disability or collecting welfare as you so callously suggest. Not that it's any business of yours but, what we make is just on the brink of 3 figures. So we surely could have afforded something in one of your so called "nicer" areas with no problem. But again, why? It's like a moldy piece of bread. Sure there may be a few clear/untouched spots here and there but, you still can't eat it. You just can't get around the fact the the bread is still sh*t.

I personally think you live in Philly and not NY (not that NY is any better anyway) like your log in suggests and you are just jealous that you are stuck there and I'm not. In fact, I can almost guarantee it just based on the way your posts started off as an attack/put down/negative/etc. I see that same behavior and attitude from MANY people who still live there when you tell them you left. They want to talk down to you and tell you how much of a bad person you are for bailing on an ailing area that has no hope of ever being nice again. Never mind the fact that you have kids to worry about and that you do not want to raise in such filth and despair. Well, so be it. You can call me what you will but at least I can walk the streets at night and not have to worry EVERY day that someone's gonna drive by and shoot me, rape me, or mug me. I also don't have to deal with that typical Philly attitude either. I never encounter rudeness here from anyone. As for your, "Anywhere else is where someone with no other choice had to live." comment goes, that's exactly how I feel about most people who still live back in Philly. Philly is where people with no other choices live. But it's those same people who bitch about you leaving that turn around and admit they would leave if they could.

And you should be ashamed of yourself for stereotyping the people of the area of Gettysburg with your ignorance. People with your attitude and mindset are one of the main reasons I left Philly. And as much as you say people like that belong here, people like you don't!

And, not that I believe you are wealthy as hinted to in your posts but, I'll play along for a second, your snobby, wealthy, I'm better than everyone else, self righteous, ignorant, prejudice, stereotypical, racist, self entitlement, ass isn't welcomed at a place like Gettysburg anyway. That's why it's different out here. That's why it's nice. That's why people like me flock to the area. Because people like you don't live here. YOU are who WE'RE running from.

Not saying it's perfect out here, it has it's problems, but it sure as hell is better than living in a place that has people such as yourself. I think I've said all there needs to be said. I will no longer address you. Have a good day.

And that post was meant to say SIX figures before you disregard everything else I say and focus on the ONE mistake I made.

Gettysburg a very unsafe and unfriendly town. If it weren't for the history they'd have nothing at all, except for bitter locals begging for a casino. Oh that's right that passed them by too, well better luck next time.

Is there any truth to the rumor that this was an MS-13 initiation ritual for new gang members? Do you think as more and more criminals join this gang that they will continue to light people on fire for the ritual or will they commit other serious crimes?

You should know the truth of any rumor you start. So tell us is it true. If you have knowledge, please contact the local police department, I am sure they would appreciate the tip. If you don't have any proof, please do not start false rumors.

Have these savage gangsters been caugh yet? What is happening to our town? It never used to be this dumpy and crime ridden. I'm afraid to leave the house!

Oh heck, "Kathy", if I was a dumpy as you I'd be afraid to leave the house too! Goodness knows should those savage gangsters attempt to light you afire, the massess of homeless, hungry Gettyburgians would give those savages a run for their money -'cause they'd all be runnin' up on you, hoping against hope to procure a small lump of your charred gooeyness to take home and feed their starving babes - which were no doubt created in some dark, dank alley - their unmarried, soul-less parents no doubt using their food stamp card as a cushion against the oil and bloodstained streets.
