As usual Chavez is on the side of oppressors, but is a surprise?

1 And let us not forget Noriega and Bin Laden. |

Getting the "Hugo Chavez" stamp of approval is damning with faint praise indeed.

All the negative media Chavez and Venuzuela gets in the states is because they have oil, and they have paid off their debts, so the IMF has no hold on them, oh and they are a pretty left leaning country. They are just being demonised so when the US admin moves aginst them (which it has started to do covertly, see doco "War on Democracy" for references to the USA's movements in South America) they will have no public sympathy towards them from the American people.
I'm not surprised the US admin hates him. Anti-Globalisation, anti-privatisation, and sitting on all that oil! I'm not saying he's perfect, they need greater freedom of press, take away those anti-slander laws etc, mistakes in the past but I think the US politians who critise him are arrogant hypocrites. I hope Venuzuela doesn't become another US client state in the guise of liberation. Lets hope that if he does get in Obama turns out not to be a red-herring. |
