Charley Walters: Loss of Trevor Mbakwe hurts Minnesota Gophers ...

Full story: TwinCities.com

Glen Perkins is all but gone!!! I wouldn't care if they traded him for a couple bags of rosin and some pine tar.

You'd think they'd fast track Mbawke's trial in Florida and not delay it. Get it done and see if the dude can play this year or not.

Isn't there a way to speed up the case concerning Trevor Mbakwe so that he can return to play basketball with Gophers? I realize that the wheels of justice move slowly but can't those wheels be greased a bit?

Why bother with this thug? Sooner or later something else will come up-it always does.

Wow, the Gophers Athletics Department make the Roman Empire's decline look like a mild recession. Baraball is out for the season for hockey which was already only the 4th best team in the state. The Gopher's women lose to Winona State which is only the 8-9th best team in the state. Gopher basketball players are drunked up fighting mad and hitting cops when they aren't trying to rape gals riding bikes. The Gophers are a rare entity which can recruit scum of the earth thugs and still consistently lose. No more money for the University from tax payers except for education. They at least have a chance to improve there.

Apparently these gopher kids didn't get the parenting they deserved so now its up to Tubby. But Tubby has bills to pay like the rest of us so he has to play these kids sometime. I'm a big fan but we need to recruit kids that are going to stay out of jail. Show some pride in yourselves for crying out loud!

"It will be surprising if Aldrich isn't the Timberwolves' top draft pick next June. "

how do you know that? do you know where the Timberwolves will be drafting? Do you know which other college players will be coming out? Do you know what other teams will be picking ahead of the wolves?

Come on... atleast give us facts or inside information. I get tired of these unsubstantiated guesses.

That was an airplane that took the Wild on their latest west coast trip. They had previously considered going by Camel, or magic carpet.

He's a slow white center, of course the Twolves will draft him.

good post and right on...sports and it's athletes are completley out of control. It is called " winning at any cost" and the U is as guilty as any other school in this country trying to compete and again, it is at any cost. The U should have some type of orientation to let these thugs aware that if you screw up ONE time you are done, plain and simple. How many "working" folks would love the chance at a full ride scholarship and work so hard to try and qualify and then you have these whiney and spoiled primidonnas who think the world should cater to their needs and whims...without consequence at that..what a mess the U has on it's hands and these little thugs, take their scholarships away and give them to someone more deserving who might actually appreciate it...AND put it to it's intended use, meaning ACTUALLY attending classes.

It's Mbakwe's lawyer that wants the trial delayed until next. Mbakwe was originally set to go to trial in August.

Only one problem with your comment on Glen Perkins for JJ Hardy. The Brewers don't need more guys with ERA's of nearly 6. They've got plenty of them.

The idea of trading Hardy from the Brewer perspective is to improve their pitching, not get another guy who gives up tons more hits than innings.

He said Glen perkins would be in the package most likely. Not the main piece. So maybe a deal of Swarzak or Duensing or Manship with perkins as well. Perkins still has some upside- just inconsistant and has clashed with the twins organization.

Duensing is the one we want to keep, Perkins stinks, has been given so many chances to prove he belongs and he just flat out can't
be a starter in this league, plain and simple......

Bobby Keppel is as much of free agent as Joe Mauer is...

If the Twins want him around next year, he'll have to be around... they may choose to make him a free agent, but it would be surprising to me if Japanese teams are courting guys that are under team control for four or five more years.

His lawyer is the one delaying the trial. If Trevor boy were innocent, he would have been exonerated in August, thing is, he is not acting like an innocent man. Fleeing the state after being warned the police were looking for him, delaying the trial...

Writing is on the wall.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Virgo

It's okay to have high expectations, but try to keep in mind that no one can be all things to all people. As the Moon spends one last day in its current sign, it urges you to find a way to recognize others for their strengths, and forgive them their weaknesses. Virgoans' idiosyncrasies must look like strange quirks from the outside as well! Fate ties up the loose ends towards the end of the day.
