Full story: TwinCities.com

Cindy Hickey was sitting in her Pine City home office last summer, preparing a receipt for a client of her animal physical therapy business when the phone rang.

Why, when the State Department reccomends no travel to Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan, would you want to go there? I guess you just can't fix stupid. Hopefully, they'll be released one day, as long as it's not at taxpayers expense. It occurs to me too that if they wanted to see Iraq they could've joined the Army; or the Marines are always looking for a few good men.

They should have not gone there in the first place. Let them sit there and the moms to. I am sick of hearing about them. And why is the girl wearing that stupid scarf. Like thissucks said, they should have joined the service

Are they still over there? Hasn't the Savior gotten these three mother-earth-loving adult children back yet?

But I guess the biggest question is...why in the heck is this still news?

The military wouldn't take these whiners, I'm sure. Plus their indoctrination at Berkeley surely taught them that the government and the military are evil white men, all planning the destruction of the 'non elites'.

And look at how supposed ACCIDENTAL border crossings are handled by other countries.(And come on people, let's know where border are if this teaches you anything).

Their release will be at our expense. But you know, part of me is saying "Hey, you need to know where borders are and accept consequences." Part of me also wonders if this were truly an accident and why were they hiking in a very dangerous area of the world?

I guess this shows that book smarts doesn't always equal street smarts. You would think 3 people who graduated from Berkley would have enough common sense NOT to hike on the Iran/Iraq border. I no longer feel sorry for them, they made their bed and they can sleep in it.

HUH? You must not know much about Berkeley. The last thing they teach there is common sense, or the realities of life, for that matter.

I have known a few Berkley grads - some of the most highly intelligent dummies I have ever met. Just because a school is supposed to be top notch does not mean they are teaching life. I tell all my clients that no matter how good your trainer is in this field, if you cannot apply the lessons practically to life, you will still have issues. So I give advice on practical application of formal lessons to daily life. And I still have dummies who cannot do this. And some are highly educated people who lack common sense. I used to work near Harvard and was in Harvard square all the time. How many brilliant stupid people can colleges spew out?

Okay, one more time: They are sons and daughters, but 30 year olds are NOT CHILDREN.

"If enough was being done, they'd be home."

Home where, Ms. Hickey? Two of the three captives were living the the Baathist Islamist police state haven of Damascus, Syria. What were your "children" doing there?

Shane Bauer is a typical anti-American, anti-Israel Berkeley puke.

I wonder if these moms put half as much time into teaching these pukes any common sense when they were little. Did they warn them when they headed off on their "peace mission"?

A degree in peace & conflict studies???? Whens the last time you saw an ad in the help wanted ads for this "skill". But then again these types have never read a want ad & have no intention of doing productive labor. IMHO they're right where they belong.

Come on all of you, do you know where the borders are? And furthermore, if you are out in rural MN,(back roads) do you know where the state borders are. I would be sure to bet not. Give these people a break. They are Americans. What it should teach us, if other countries don't allow illegal entries int their countries, why should we?

This has been addressed over and over, but I'll waste my time once again.

If Minnesota was a war zone, and passing into North Dakota meant I could go to jail, HECK YES I would know exactly where the border was. On top of that, I'd never be OUT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE and run the risk.

Leave them to rot and then ship back their ponchos to their 'Peace' degree advisers at Berkley...it will be a nice souvenir to hang on her wall, next to her triple-hyphenated name plaque.

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Gemini

This is a good time to take stock of your actions and the direction you're going in. Are your efforts getting you anywhere or leading you astray and scattering your energy? If you're putting in the work but not moving forward, you're not on track. The old adage 'cut your coat according to your cloth' is good advice. Be simple and purposeful and don't waste time with things that get no practical results.
