Is New Zealand really that bad?? Help...

I'm from a country called Nepal next to India. I'm planning to come to New Zealand. I'm struggling with the finance but once that is taken care of I want to apply there. My concern is that so many people here have posted that NZ is a dead country with nothing but racist people. I've heard some real good stuffs about NZ like you get good jobs and that the education is good. Is it all just exaggeration then? This step is really important to me and will determine my future. Somebody tell me the real thing and how it is for international students?

Read expatexposed.com - NZ is a lot of hype. Its P.R. machine is really oiled up. Living there is expensive and the system doesn't deliver for the money it pumps out of you. Migrants are viewed as cash cows or invaders out to buy up all their land. Look at their newspapers for an idea of the sort of English you'll learn there - you'd think they had no proofreaders.

I would have to agree with TTTT if you are not N.Z born and raised you may find you will have a tough time financialy and socialy.Many immigrant people seem to end up angry that they were not welcomed into the workplace with open arms,there are limited job openings in n.z and preferance is given to local people,as it should be.Unfortunatly many N.Z employers do not recognize experience gained in other countries even in fields like international trade and marketing,go figure?

NZ lacks Theme Parks and so many other great things. NZ is just an upgraded version of Fiji man.

My husband and I lived in NZ for 9 months a few years ago. That was all we could stand. There was discrimination against immigrants (we're American), it's horribly expensive and, worst of all, there's no central heating in the houses. Be prepared to freeze at least 3-4 months out of the year.

Thats it. NZ is outta my list.

dont do it.nz is not a good place.it would not be so bad if the people were humble but they think they live on the best country on earth and they some how feel immigrants owe them something for being let in.

You will NOT get a good job, you will experience a lot of racism, the educational system is NOT good. Pretty much all the things you're reading online from the immigration website are embellished or just straight up lies.

I agree, go to expat exposed. That website was my saving grace and helped me to realize that I needed to leave ASAP. Knowing that other people were having exactly (and I mean *exactly*) the same problems as me was hugely helpful.

Don't move there. Go to Canada instead. You'll be treated much better, the economy is better, the schools are better, the culture is better....I couldn't go on and on.

That Expatexposed thing is an absolute joke. Most of the people on there are sad negative whingers who can't be responsible or face their own shortcomings and instead blame NZ. There's a thread there about how they think NZ has problems with incest and inbreeding FFS!, that should indicate the loony-toons who frequent it. Just pathetic and puerile really...
As for moving to NZ, it's not what it's cracked up to be. It's not BAD like the other morons here are telling you, but on he whole it's pretty average. You probably will have an average or possibly pretty good life but you're likely to be trapped there for the rest of your life. Take a look at other options and weigh them up against each other and NZ.

I notice many people do not consider the economic and social costs many people have endured after being falsely enticed into moving to N.Z.That should be consdered before telling people 'if you dont like N.Z you should just go back to where you came from.In all fairness the N.Z govt.has been running a false advertiseing scam to get money from people who imagine a good life for themselves in N.Z This country is not what it pretends to be in the promotional literature ,far from it.

Look mate I know what's going on. I had a few friends in the UK who enjoyed a holiday in NZ. Unfortunately at some stage they gave away their contact details, and ever since their email accounts get this BS every three months trying to lure them to emigrate to NZ. It's got all this hilarious garbage about how NZ is 'progressive'(my arse) and makes out how it is at the cutting edge and some sort of Utopia. Don't worry most educated professionals aren't so naive to buy it, but it's still highly embarrassing that the government agencies are engaging in this disgraceful dodgy business.

Now I can sympathise with people who were misled and have fallen on their arse, even though they probably should have done their homework better. Some of those poor people are on that forum. And every time some eff-wit loserkiwi tells anyone from overseas 'if you don't like it go home' I want to slap their face, I mean they wouldn't say it if they didn't hope we'd listen.

But let's face it. Most (over 70%) of that expatexposed thing is a bunch of negative, moaning losers who probably wouldn't go too far anywhere with their attitude. There's gross exaggerations about NZ's shortcomings and childish crap... such as threads about NZ being 'inbred'... I mean how ridiculous! So many comments are just people topping each other for bad things to say and self-pitying.
