Oh NO Not Again wrote: They should be forced to do public service announcements on TV against drunk driving. The announcements must include their names and home towns. Sometimes it takes a bit of humiliation to correct their behaviour. If they were forced to do that, they probably would have shown up drunk, dum asses

These are irresponsible people and the full measure of the law is required. Suspend their licenses for a long time. Hard punishment is required to get the message out about drinking and driving. They could have killed some innocent people. Good job by the police.

Damien wrote: <quoted text> It's not the beer (light or regular)that gets you drunk, it's the alcohol (ethanol) in the beer or wine or whiskey or white lightning that gets a person drunk. There is no alcohol in light beer, so you can drink as much as you want. White wine has a little, and red wine has alot of alcohol. The most, though, is in whiskey. That is why it costs more than light beer, because the county taxes alcohol.

Wow, you seem to have a vast knowledge of the process, are you speaking from personal experience? Tappa Kegga Brew wrote: Good catch by the Southampton Police dept. All yongsters too, one with an equipment voilation, probable cause will get you every time. If they have a 1/2 way decent lawyer and blew under a .15, did nothing else atrocious and this was a 1st offense, they will be driving again soon. All of course depending where they are arraigned and who is the presiding judge. They will have an arraignment probably today and have to come back within a week to enter a plea for a hardship license. If their employer writes them a nice letter and there is no convenient alternatives to them driving, they should get a hardship license. Which limits them back and forth to work, doctor appointments and a free time of 3 hours a week, which is set in stone. Their DUI trial should happen within 2 months, they might have to do some community service as well, 40-60 hours are the norm for a straight DUI. Throw an accident on top of that and it could be a minimum of 100 hours. All in all, this is no picnic and should be a good deterrent to keep them straight while driving.

Are you crazy???? 1-12 oz beer= 1-6oz wine = 1 oz of liquor (about 86 proof) all of them are equal!!!! More than 1 full drink of either in less than an hour will get you over the limit!! Good thing the cops got them.....

Every time I drive on a weekend night I see people swerving, driving to slow, not staying in their lane. It is truly frightening realizing that many of the drivers around you are not sober. You're better off staying home and having people over or staying at the home of your hosts. Many times I have seen people coming off a bender at six in the morning - the roads are just not safe on weekends at any time of day.
