A big league running back. Jones sounds like the missing piece of the puzzle to get passed the Patriots. Now the JETS have a running game along with two top notch receivers, Coles and Crotchery. All they need now is to pick up a solid defensive lineman to make them Super Bowl Contenders. Too bad, however, that Leon Washington is now second fiddle. He had a good enough season last year to get a shot at the full time job. Now with Jones however Washington is going to see a lot less time.

Outstanding, Jets get talented RB for draft pick they fleeced Redskins out of last year and still get last pick in second round. Unless Jones becomes a COMPLETE bust, this is about as one sided of a deal as you could hope for. Jets still have much work to do, Pats have improved with the addition of Adalius Thomas and Wes Welker. I wish it were early September right now!

Actually, Jones looks like the perfect fit for the Jets' system, and he and Washington should complement each other extremely well. Envision Jones being more the inside runner who gets 18-20 carries, and Washington evolving into a similar role to what Reggie Bush was this past year with the Saints -- 8-12 carries, plus a handful of catches out of the backfield and lining up in the slot on multiple receiver sets. Michael Turner would have cost the Jets a LOT more; if the terms of this deal hold up, Tangini pulled off a hell of a deal.

Awesome,Awesome,Awesome!
Excellent deal for the Jets. Although Leon Washington will get less time, he'll be a good 3rd down option back and has the talent to be put in 5 receiver sets. Still you can't deny getting a proven back such as Jones.

Great deal. They essentially gave up nothing (20 or so spots in the second round)considering what some teams are spending and/or giving up. The Texans gave Ahman Green all that money and Jones is better and doesn't fumble all the time. I'm a Giant fan but I wanted to give the Jets some props. By the way, Frankie GG, you need to calm down though. They're still not passing the Patriots any time soon. One defensive lineman and they're super bowl bound? C'mon chief. You need to calm down. They're good, but not that good. I know the Giants are what they are. I'm clear in my thoughts. They are an 8-8 team. This Jets team is not a super bowl contender yet. This is a great deal though. Enjoy it and lay off the crack.- Tim C in Hicksville.

I don't know about Super Bowl Contender either, but I agree with Frankie about the next logical move being to get a good DL. If they do, the Jets are a perennial playoff team and should be good enough to win at least one playoff game.

I am a lifelong Jets fan, been to over 100 games at Shea/Meadowlands. Live in San Diego now, and I miss going. Charger fans hate us because we've had their number - pretty funny. Bolts fans are pretty cocky, but I love reminding them they haven't won a playoff game in 12+ years.

I am a big Chicago Bear fan and I have not missed a game since Jones has been in Chicago. He does show flashes of greatness but he will drive you nuts with the amount of dancing he does in the hole.

Oh and another thing he hates contact. He runs out of bounds alot and when you need 2 yards for a first down on a big 3 and 2 be prepared for 1 yard. He does have very good vision though and is a great cut back runner. He needs a hole though. He is not very good at creating them.

he was my fantasy rb last year so I saw almost every game he played. I think he will be a good fit for the Jets.

stunning deal...almost too good a deal to be true - will the league step in and say the bears did not receive enough in compensation?

Amazing deal! I can't believe we got a guy like Jones just for moving down 20 spots in the second round! Not even the first round. I think Thomas should have been well worth a straight up trade for the lower second round draft pick but clearly the Bears are getting a lot of pressure to move Jones. Tangini has now made up (at least a little) for the fact that we had no chance at Adalius Thomas.

Wow! Way to go Tangini. Bradway never could have pulled off this deal. I was looking forward to getting a back in a draft (I was dying for Marshawn Lynch or getting a second round solid starter like Michael Bush or Kenny Irons), but when you look at what we gave up and what we are getting it's hard to lament at all. This also allows us to really plug some other holes with the draft like CB and DE. We should be able to get a shutdown corner in the first round and the draft is really deep at DE so in the second we could get a solid backup who might be ready to start by the time Kimo is gone. Then maybe we can hope to run with the patriots - as far as passing them I don't think that will happen this year or next, but this certainly helps set us up to be more of a challenge to their supremacy.

1,000 yard rusher for a 2nd rounder ? Way too good to turn down. Wondering what they will do with the 1st round pick now ? hopefully to get some help up the middle on defense; the Jets still have trouble stopping the run
