I am sorry the little boy got injured, but why does money always have to come into it? Is that going to heal the child?

These places seem to be more dangerous then ever. I like the park very much but its not worth taking my kids there at this time or any other park for that matter. We do other things now.

No amusement park can be made 100% injury proof. When you have so many people patronizing such places year after year, injuries will happen no matter how many safeguards are employed.

I can understand the parents wanting to sue and maybe there case has merit, but parents and staff need to be more vigilant.

This is one of those situations where it's impossible to make a judgment without seeing the specific area of the ride where the kid got injured.

Let me explain something to everybody, people who get injured sue rightfully so. This child went to the park for a day of fun. He got his hand mangeled!!! Im sure you would not be happy if that was your son. He will be traumatized for life, not to mention the pain this child had to go through. People sue to get surgeries and medical expenses and bills that have accumilated while being injured and out of work reimbursed. Most often things dont happen at places like this, who are well insured, for events of this nature. Most people in personal injury lawsuits end up going bankrupt before they ever see any money, they cant make their bills because they are out of work, and social security-disability pays the same to everyone, regardless of their job standings. I think its $157 dollars a week. Who can live off that, while out of work. Plus they have surgeries and medical expenses. If the people "in the wrong" do not have good insurance coverage, the injured go bankrupt, until their settlements. Granted this child does not work, but the parents will have to be home with him, losing income. There should not be rides at amusement parks that could injure children and kill people like adventureland. They should use some of the huge money they profit everyday and make the park safe. Might as well give our kids knives to play with.

Is it possible that the mother's "yanking" his hand from the ride could have caused additional injury to this child? This appears to be an unfortunate accident, as thousands of kids, including mine, have gone on this attraction without incident over the years. Before rushing to judgement, or seeking a big payout in this case, a thorough investigation is called for.

I agree with bond, if the child lost his balance and fell that's just what kids do. Come on, everyone falls at 6 years old. As for "mommy"'s comment
" Might as well give our kids knives to play with. "
Let's be real here, most likely every child on Long Island has gone on the rides at Adventureland once in their life without a problem. So the park is most certainly not a death trap of "knives" as you would have us believe.
The park is a great family fun area and I just don't understand how parents can be so paranoid as to say that they don't feel safetaking their kids there, just go to the park and look around if you don't believe it, you'll see lots of happy kids enjoying their time there with plenty of supervision by staff members.

No way Mommyof1...

Accidents happen...That's why they call them accidents. Your attitude is what is wrecking our society. No one takes responsiblity for their own actions. So lets blame someone else and sue their butts off. You can totally lie and make false claims without reprecussions in civil court. Unfortunately, the weasel lawyers make the rules in the state legislatures so we will never see tort reform.

In this case, the kid lost his balance. Sounds like gravity to me. The kids hand doesn't look that bad from the picture. I feel bad for the kid and I hope he gets better. The only thing Adventureland should pay is whatever medical insurance doesn't pay for...

I can't believe most of the comments that I'm reading. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Instead of showing some empathy there is just blame, blame, blame. You blame the mother, the town, etc. A child got hurt!!!!!! Let's feel something!!!

the little boy fell and hurt himself. It could have happened anywhere.
I feel sorry for the kid, but i wouldn't give the family a lotto jackpot windfall.
It wasn't park negligence, the kid just fell.
Its not like a seatbelt failed or a baby roller coaster went off the tracks.
What is the park supposed to do, put all the kids in protective bubble wrap?

Stitches?? Busted hand??? or just a boo-boo. If someone described a mangled hand to me, I would think a rollercoaster ran it over.. C'mon is this worth reporting and suing over.

You want to be safe stay at home and watch the grass grow.
The visceral excitement of a carnival ride is the inherent danger of the whole thing. People who go to Adventureland and places like it get off on the thrill and excitement and YES the danger.
Most rides are reasonably safe but do something contrary to common sense or to over ride the safety features and you put yourself and possibly others at risk.
You buy your ticket and you take your chances.

Just a child who injured his hand!? What a ridiculous thing to say. THAT guy should be sued for stupidity. If kids are supposed to walk through a ride without their parents along side them it should be absolutely fool proof. I hope the family gets millions from that dump! Imagine that poor little kid!

Okay people, enough. The kid caught his hand and got hurt. Now you want to sue Adventureland? Get over it, you're just looking for some fast cash.
Years ago kids fell and got hurt and nothing happened. The world has gone "sue" happy and they think Adventureland will pay up.
I hope they go all the way to trial and give this greedy family not a nickel. I know the Adventureland family personally and they are caring and would never let someone injured not be tended to.
Get over yourself and go to work for your money!
The kid didn't fall and get hurt. The stupid ride had flaws and the kid's hand got mangled!

Daily Horoscope for February 12

Scorpio

If you are still feeling depleted of energy, remember that it's always darkest before the dawn. During the last day of your low lunar cycle, find ways to refresh your soul. Buying fresh flowers for yourself is a wonderful pick-me-up, so is a treat from the local bakery. So often it is the little things that make all the difference. Give yourself permission to rest and relax today. Things liven up later.
