Again, I'm disappointed in a lot of the views on this: Al Sharpton, one crazy person saying how somthing should be thrown in the protest crowd, that justice was served.

How would any of us feel if it were our father, brother or husband that happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and not only that excessively gunned down. You would want the world to know too. It happen that the man was black, it didn't mention, if I recall, what color that the police officer are. I think that people need to take into account how they would feel if this happen to someone that they loved.

Because, it seems ThgLfe would have killed everyone. Now that is who you need to be scared of!

How about if I just knock on your car window waving a gun while wearing plain clothes and not identifying myself as a police officer. Let's see what you do.

Murder.

Since when does several hundred people clog a city of 8 million. Theres that many on a street during the day. AOL has lost it in trying to create news to save their skrinking enrollment.

Even Mayor Bloomberg said shooting the unarmed man 50 times was ridiculous. I can't believe some of you have decided that shooting an unarmed man 50 times is acceptable just because Al Sharpton( along with the Mayor and Chief of Police) thinks its unacceptable.

EXACTLY! People see Blacks protesting and automatically think it's racial.
The police did a horrible thing either by mistake or on purpose and they should be held accountable in some way. If this march is about provoking the Feds to look into it I do hope that they at least filed a formal grievance or appeal to them before taking to the streets. A show of solidarity does no good without the proper paperwork and procedures in place. It also takes time for they system to get moving
"Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Wednesday that the department was continuing to examine the possibility of disciplinary action against the detectives"
Very odd statement...if they were found not guilty then why the need for further action.
My guess is that the further action is for violation of department policies (which doesn't necessarily mean breaking the law).

I could get in trouble at my job without breaking any laws.

And I do remember Sharpton being quite vocal in the trial of public opinion in the Duke case.

I would have so much more respect for the man if he would apologize for when he was wrong.

He probably did, but the media will cover what they want. Maybe someone out there knows if Sharpton made a public apology?

I wonder why they were arrested, though, if the protests were nonviolent. Did I miss something?
Yeah you did, their nonviolent protests were in the middle of the streets. They stood in large groups in the middle of streets to clog traffic, like its not clogged enough in New York.

I support the protest. There was no justice in this case. White America, by and large, has not changed on damn bit.
What did "White America" have to do with the shooting? The victim was black and the cops that shot him black and Hispanic, please explain how it is White America's fault.

The black community needs to realize Charpton is not there friend. He is a media hog and only cares about himself. He is self indulgent and the majority of people in this country roll their eyes when he protest something

So how was Sean Bell to know that the undercover police officers were not some guys trying to rob him? Sounds like he was trying to get away from people he thought were robbers, not trying to run over a police officer. Stop with the lame arguement, please.

Ever heard of consequences and actions? Normal people living right do NOT get shot. First off I have followed this issue since it first broke. Yes he was unarmed but he was behaving erratically, making threats and refusing to obey the officers...he was belligerent and then reached into his jacket...THAT is when the first shot was fired...I concur that 50 rounds are excessive but given the location and its predisposition for gun battle and gang violence once the first shot rang out I am sure the other shots were knee jerk (again that's not good). Calmer heads would have prevailed and a life would have been spared if the young man had simply complied to the officers directives.

I think it is time for everybody to stop letting race come in to play when something goes wrong. As the wife of a police officer if someone was trying to run over my husband with a car (which is a deadly weapon) I would tell them to shoot to stop the person and I think anybody would including the girl friend of Mr. Bell I hate that it happened but so many times officers ask people to stop and they try to get away when they could have just answered a few questions then went on their way with no one getting hurt. This is just a case of someone not following orderes.

Al Sharpton has never apologized for anything. He didn't apologize for the Tawana Brawley case which was alot like the Duke Lacrosse case where some black girl cried rape against some white guys. WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!!! Didn't apologize then and he won't apologize now, because he just likes to stir the pot.

Did the police officers ever identify themselves to Sean Bell and his buddies? Because if not I could see why they reacted the way they did. We can all sit behind our computers and judge, point fingers and give our opinion, that's the easy part, but until we are faced with a situation like this, we don't know how we would react.

Remember two of the police officers involved in this shooting were black as well as the victim. THIS PROTEST AND STORY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. It has everything to do with gross negligence and misuse of police powers and a police department and judicial system too corrupt or frightened to do the right thing. How many of us could shoot someone 51 times and say,"Oh I'm sorry I thought he had a gun, my mistake." All is forgiven go home and have a nice day. If you or I did something like this they would put us under the jail.

I have a feeling you did not follow the trial. They did not identify themselves as police officers. If I were in their situation and someone came upon my car window brandishing a gun I would run them over too. The police did not follow procedures and now a man is dead and others injured.
