did anyone test the two boys that were driving? No alchol no drugs? The accidnt was a mistake thats why they call it an accident. Yes Heise had no licence, he deserves jail time. But for people saying he has no remorse, YOU R ALL WRONG! And has anyone been a herion addict before, So please dont comment ABOUT that! What if Dave Heise was your son?? Think about it!

So Jackie according to you unless someone has been a heroin addict they cannot comment on Dave. Which one are you a mistake or an accident?

I hope they put the extra long sheets in his cell. They do wonders for the heroin prison population.

The whole situation is sad, Thats all I meant. I dont want to argue. Its sad two people died. My point is it was an accident. And evryone makes mistakes. Just think about if this was your child that made the mistake.

It would be interesting to see if you would have the same attitude if your son was killed by this piece of trash.

He was driving with a revoked license. He did that accidentally? He didn't know that his license had been revoked? He ran a red light. That was done mistakenly? Perhaps he was color blind? You can give this situation many names, but accident and mistake aren't two of them. Go look for sympathy somewhere else.

Using heroin - driving with a revoked license - running red lights - killing people. All mistakes and accidents in your book. Don't be shocked that no one agrees with you.

my bestfriend since I was 9 died in this accident. And yeah they were tested, and came up COMPLETELY CLEAN. They did everything right, they didnt run a red light, and they drove with a licensed driver. This piece of shit did everything wrong, and LEFT THE SCENE. If he would have stopped and called for an ambulance, my best friend could be alive today.. I have zero remorse for this man, and today i got to visit river head jail on a school trip, he is where he deserves to be. My best friend should be graduating with me next year, and hes not. For that I will never have remorse for anyone of these charges.

. Just so you all know Dave is the most honest and nicest person I've ever met in my life .. And he DIDNT leave .. He tried to pull one of them out of the car but the EMT told him not to touch him ... And I've seen the paperwork that says your friends WERE on drugs and Dave wasn't .. So I'm sorry for your loss but you don't know what your talking about ..

You know, those two kids were leaving a high school party. They were on Xanax, marijuana and alcohol.(The recent toxicology reports reflect this) Both parties are to blame. We can't blame the dead children so we go after the survivor.

The real villains here are the brain-dead friends of these kids who saw them party all night, and then let them drive home without convincing them to sober up a little.

Someone claims Dave left the scene, totally false. He in fact was the first person to the car, and was pulling the boys out when the EMTs arrived. Know your facts, do some research, and don't believe everything you read in Newsday.

Does Dave deserve to be punished for an accident? No.

Will Dave be punished because of his past run-ins with the law? Yes. Is this fair? No. But it is understandable.

I hope he gets the minimal sentence, he has the best lawyer money can buy, and doesn't deserve to become the poster child of Long Island's growing Heroin epidemic.

This is so true - the kids are being made the only victims, however, as the family knows, they were high and may have contributed to the accident.
