Nassau County NY District Attorney Kathleen Rice, is the best thing to happen to New York law enforcement since the formation of the New York State Police on April 11, 1917. I hope she wins the Attorney General Race.

She has taken on the illegal gun trade here in New York with an undercover buy-up of Semiautomatic Assault-style Weapons from several large volume Long Island gun stores. With the help of the New York State Police and Lieutenant Joe Demaria who heads up the GIU (Gun Investigation Unit) here on the island, she has helped finance the surreptitious purchasing of illegally converted weapons.

Big gun sellers like Coliseum Gun Traders in Uniondale, Hunter Sports in Massapequa, T&T Gunnery in Seaford, T&T Tactical in New Hyde Park and several other stores are targets for criminal prosecution. They have been importing into New York, clearly marked and equipped Semiautomatic Assault Weapons which are banned under state law from ever being sold to civilians, and using a haphazard assortment of conversion techniques, changing their configuration from illegal to legal. T&T in particular, because of a baseless lawsuit the owner filed against Nassau County, deserves her wrath.

The bottom line is breaking the law for huge profits. A NY illegal version of one model purchased undercover, is sold at wholesale for $690. After a minimal amount of gluing and pinning and no paperwork, that same weapon has assumed the appearance of a legal weapon, and bares the newly revised price tag of $1595. A properly configured rifle manufactured by a reputable weapon manufacturer sells at wholesale for $1200 to $1400. You can see the attraction for skirting state law.

With financial and legal support from Ms. Rice and additional funding from the NYSP, members of the GIU have evidence by the dozens ready for presentation to a Grand Jury. Backed by testimony from the undercover purchasers and a courtroom demonstrations of the flimsy and ineffectual methods employed to maximize profits at the expense of the safety of Long Islanders, Ms. Rice will shut down these purveyors of rapid-fire death.

One such high-volume dealer was witnessed at a “Gun Show” in Hauppauge, openly selling current production “high capacity ammunition feeding devices” that he had sterilized by replacing the "marked" base plates with "blank" ones so that there was no markings indicating origin or date of manufacture. These “hi-cap” magazines wholesale for as little as $4 and they were openly being sold for $25-$30 each. These magazines hold 30-rounds of military-grade ammo, capable of slaughtering innocent men, women and children at a high rate of fire.

I commend the NYSP-GIU for their efforts to clean up our streets of these weapons and going after those who profit from their sale. Plans for undercover visits to several gun ranges where citizens who were duped into buying one of these “converted” weapons, would go target shooting, so that Troopers can inquire as to where the weapons and magazines had been purchased are planned for the fall of this year. If blatant and unethical converted weapons are observed, the owners will be relived of them and possibly arrested. The Nassau District Attorney will use all her powers to prosecute the gun stores who are dealing death by forcing them to defend their conversion methods in court.

You pro-gun Troopers will not stop her from her goal of making New York streets safe from weapons that spew multiple deaths from their barrels. With evidence already gathered, and her renewed determination to clean up New York’s gun businesses, she will make her case in front of several Grand Juries in the coming weeks. New Yorkers are sick and tired of gun dealers selling to gang members and their relatives, through straw purchases and other methods of criminal diversion of their inventory.
One dealer under her jurisdiction was even raided by the NYPD-Emergency Services Unit with their guns drawn. She will close these dealers down and save countless lives.
And all you New York gun nuts, she is coming after you! And she will win the race for Attorney General on convictions for your possessing those weapons you bought from these criminal gun dealers.
(V) A SEMIAUTOMATIC VERSION OF AN AUTOMATIC RIFLE, SHOTGUN OR FIREARM;

District Attorney Kathleen Rice, you have the full support of the mothers of gun violence victims. Please don’t let anyone, even pro-gun police from halting your efforts to make our children safe.
God Bless your efforts.

I'm happy to learn this. Thanks for posting.

What I can't figure out is why people want these weapons? They certainly aren't being used to commit crimes on a regular basis.

Pretty scary that some ordinary people feel the need to arm themselves with fully auto weapons.

If elected is DA Rice is going to push for legalizing marijuana while taking a strong stance against dangerous drugs?

She was an assistant DA in Brooklyn, then moved to Philadelphia to become a federal prosecutor. She then ran against Denis Dillon for Nassau DA, saying he was too old, while an even older fellow Dem, Robert Morgenthau, won reelection as DA in Manhattan. She promised the voters she would clean up Nassau County as DA, but was lenient on repeat drug offenders, and now wants to abandon Nassau to run for NY State Attorney General.

Ms. Rice is very ambitious, and only out for herself.

None of the firearms mentioned are fully automatic.

Gun ownership in the US among law abiding citizens is at its highest.... and crime is at a record low.

Wish politicians spent their time doing things that would actually benefit society, but then if society is as uninformed as the original poster... well that would explain alot.

Rice making it as AG would just be yet another reason to leave NY.

She's America's favorite coke snorting lesbian.

This is one VERY STRANGE AND ANGRY WOMAN and just the fact that she admitted to "dabbling" in coke made it kind of sound like an entertaining fun thing to do. Like playing the ukelele or knitting a sweater. What an idiot! She sounded like a dirt bag and a creep. Thank God she made such stupid statements. All people had to do is hear that and no one wanted to vote for her. Even Cuomo distanced himself from Rice and wouldn't come out to endorse her.

She should resign from office. She's cost Nassau County more than $300 million dollars in civil liberties lawsuits. And the damage is still pilling up. And even though Dennis Dillon is dead - I'd still vote for him over Rice.

Kathleen Rice - Once a junkie always a junkie.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Gemini

Beware wishful thinking because it will cloud your thoughts and lead to confusion. However, that's much easier said than done, because today you're showing distinct tendencies towards living in a rosy world of your own and ignoring any hard facts that are under your nose. Take care that you don't allow someone to dupe you simply because you aren't paying attention to what they're saying or doing.
