How much you wanna bet Ranjan Batheja the person who entrapped Corbin gets off and the brother gets jail time. Even though Corbin fixed up New Castle for the better. Too bad Corbin did it the wrong way. Until Corbin started the urban renewal in New Castle it was pretty bad there. Corbin should have to pay back what he stole and a fine. No jail time. He fixed up New Castle something nobody else could or even cared to do until Corbin did it. What politician isn't a crook ?looking to line their pockets. Whenever I vote I know the choice is always the lesser of two evils.

I must be missing something...Corbin is charged with evading taxes on $226,000. I understand that. Am I to believe that the $226,000 itself was legally obtained from a noncitizen felon who was awarded $15.4 million dollars for the New Cassel revitalization project and that Corbin's only crime is evading taxes?

Can someone at Newsday please report on why Corbin was getting paid in the first place? It makes no sense. It is a huge hole in the story.

Since this case broke I was of the same opinion as your post. You didn't miss anything.

When did it become legal to bribe a public official? It's not always money; sometimes it's a favor, a job, a trustee position, free rent, free legal representation or another incentive to break the law...

It's takes a least 2 to tango.

It sounds like Corbin has done a lot for New Cassel and he did a stupid thing. He is not even being charged with taking a bribe or comitting a crime. He is being charged with lying to a Federal Agent and Tax Evasion. He should blame it on Turbo Tax like Geithner did and say there was not a line that said to enter money received from non employment sources that may be considered a crime and he'll get off.

As far as Ranjan Batheja, these guys really a snake. He's been caught doing this a few times and keeps getting off by testifying against the other guy. Ship his butt back to India and let him be creative and survive over there.

All politicians know to take cash....except this dumb fool thought he could get away with putting corporate checks made to "cash" into his own accounts. It makes me wonder how truly stupid and ignorant these pols are....

I would say "throw da bum out" but it would do no good. The people of New York and Long Island have turned our political system into a one-party system. The Democrats would only "appoint" another bum. Even State Senator Parker recent problems do the system any good. Just slap him on the hand and continue supporting the re-distribution of Long Islands wealth to New York City.

I have to agree that the color of the man's skin has nothing to do with this at all. Stupid knows no bounds. We all know politicians are crooked and they all take 'gifts', this is nothing new.
As far as New Cassel being nice? Well, I would not go that far but at least the surface looks cleaner I guess. Nassau Politicans never cease to amaze me. I feel bad for you folks still left there. Good Luck

New Cassel. Caring so much about a community, but not even knowing its proper name? Curious.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Libra

Look after yourself today, dear Libra, because you don't have as much energy and self-confidence as usual. In fact, your spirits may be trailing around your ankles, making you feel wretched and listless. A pessimistic mood certainly won't help you cheer up, and you may be feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities or other people's problems. The fact is that you've got things out of proportion, but you'll feel better about them soon.
