Why is it that the result of your most memorable shot is often blocked from your view? Took my wife and 9-year old granson to Gull Haven and joined up with a former club champ. On the 9th hole, I tried to put all the advice my pro had imparted into a long, smooth swing. I saw the ball fly high and over the berm in front of the green. Next thing, two guys behind the green are screaming, "It went INNNN!" Having my family present made it even more incredible.

congrats logan on your hole in one...pretty special... i waited 32 years for my first... i was on an outing in the poconos and my wife let me go on our anniversary.. we were playing mount airy golf course... after having a lousy morning round, we came to the 4th hole, 155 yards,i told my group that i hadn't hit a decent shot on a par 3 all day... i hit my shot right at the pin, it hit the green, rolled and we watched it disappear into the hole.... i had my camera which i put to good work and i had my cell phone and proceeded to call the world about my first hole in one... and on the same round, my friend came within inches of his first hole in one on the 9th hole and i came within 1 roll of an eagle on the 10th hole.... pretty wild

I am Logan's caddie. I am also a little person. I drageed his bag for 18 holes and can testify that he indeed got a hole in one. Unfortunately Mr. Logan Crume has alzheimers. The yardage was 169 yards, and he used a 5 iron not a 5 wood. He also made me run to the hole as soon as he hit the ball. I got there as soon as the ball landed and used a foot wedge to kick it in the hole. He also stiffed me out of my $100 fee but promised to take me on tour as soon as he turns PRO.

You're right Leroy. The yardage was off.

I played west sayville today... on the par 5, 5th hole green in 3 , I hit a curving 25 foot birdie putt. on the next hole, the par 4, 6th hole.. I hit my drive into the left trees, spanked my rescue club about 200 yards up the left side and ended up on the back of the green at least 60 feet from the front pin placement... hit the long, curving bomb for back to back birdies....

Back in the 70's I hit one on the hill to the right of the green on #8 on the Black. It was a 7 iron and I sliced it horribly. The tree was small back then and the hill was pretty bare. The ball hit off the hill rolled down to about 3" from the pin. I've never hit any shot closer to the hole on any par 3 I've played for the past 30 years

Instead of one golf shot here's the best 3 holes I've ever played in a row ... a few years ago at Swan Lake: 5th hole, 177 yd. par 3 ... hit a 5 iron pin straight into a stiff wind and when I got to the green it was 1" in front of the hole (a near hole in one!), tap in for birdie ... 6th hole, 467 yd. par 5 ... hit a great drive and then hit a 3 wood onto the green, 40 ft eagle putt that rims out!!! tap in for birdie ... 7th hole, 153 yd. par 3 ... hit an 8 iron left of the green onto the fringe and figured my run was over. however, chipped in from 50 ft. away for another birdie!!! And that was that ... I'll never forget it.

I saw a hole in one! Is there a place to tell Newsday or any other local paper (MGA is covered) about it? That's a memorable shot!

its been a long cold winter but not cold enough to keep me off the courses... what i tell people is that if you can sit out and watch a football game in the freezing cold for 4 hours, i can be out on a golf course and so i was... i only missed 4 weeks all winter...lido, bethpage and willow creek... and i even got out on pebble beach and st andrews.... and i never left long island... i played indoor simulator golf at pinnacle golf in rockville centre.... i really enjoyed it and it was pretty amazing... my hole of the winter was making par at the road hole , the 17th at st andrews....
anyway...spring is almost upon us ( we hope) and i look forward to comparing notes on this great newsday site....

I have been playing the courses at bethpage for close to 40 years... I have never birdied the red course's number 1 handicap hole, number 9, in all of those 40 years until yesterday....
I hit a big drive to the right side of the fairway... I was about 210 out and I hit my 3 wood perfectly right at the hole. I ended up just a drop short on the front fringe about 40 feet from the flag. i drained the putt for a birdie 3.....

I AM AFRAID THAT I'M WASTING THESE GOOD SHOTS AND HOLES WAY TOO EARLY IN THE SEASON... PLAYING EISENHOWER RED TODAY, ON THE 3RD HOLE, PAR 5... I HAD A BIG DRIVE UP THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FAIRWAY.... I TOOK MY RESCUE CLUB OVER THE TREES AND STUCK IN ON THE GREEN ABOUT 60 FEET AWAY.... I HIT THE LONG CURVING PUTT FOR EAGLE... IT WAS ALL DOWN HILL FROM THERE....

played the red course at bethpage today...the conditions were spectacular..i can honestly say that the conditions at all of the bethpage courses are the best i've ever seem them and i've been playing here for well over 35 years....it was amazing how many trees came down from sunday night's storm..... 145 was the exact count from park officials....
had a rough front nine but finished up strong on the back with back to back birdies on the 16th & 17th....

i still do not know why more people aren't using this great site... just shy i guess..either way, this post is not about me but it's with a gentleman i played with this past monday, 8/25 on the blue course at bethpage.. al v. was his name, an older man playing with his buddy ed... on the 4th hole par 5, he chipped in from the side of the green for a birdie 4. on the next hole, the up hill par 4 , 5th hole, from the right rough, he hit which we thought was a good shot up to the blind green... once getting to the top of the hill, we could not find al's ball... looked short, long..back & forth but we could not spot it... finally al said i forgot to check the hole kiddingly and yes..it was in the hole...back to back birdie, eagle...
a pretty great sequence....
