People complain because we don't profile Middle Eastern people at the airport. This, too, is the profile of hatred, intolerance and violence. When was the last time a "liberal" engaged in terroristic violence or other extremist actions against innocents to impose their superior world view on nonbelievers? It's always a right wing, extremist, conservative, gun-toting, holier than thou, crank. The right is full of them. This is the analogue of the "Muslim extremist".

Seriously, I compared him to a segment of the Republican Party. On an earlier post, a writer condemned "centrists". That is where I sit, more to center/right, and I've been a Republican the past 30 years. We are now being pushed by wackos who are the portrait of the Norwegian nut. Take a long look at our behaviors and you see the same thing. As for all Democrats being baby killers, not so. Their fringe group is just the mirror image of ours, but on the right, we tend to be more prone to violence.

I've trained with the Norweigian Home Guard back when I was in the Marine Corps. Unless things have changed, every male adult under 50 years old, especially in the rural areas, were issued an automatic weapon to keep either at home or in the village, just in case of a Soviet invasion.

Norway swore to never be so easily subjugated again like they were by Nazi Germany.(Even then, there were Nazi sympathizers in Norway, so by the standards of today, that would lead to accusations that every Norweigian was a sympathizer.) So the fact he has weapons is not big deal in that country.

One other thing to keep in mind - in Europe many political groups are outlawed if what they say is unpleasant. They do not have the same freedom of political speech as the United States. One can make the argument that if they allowed such groups to assemble and protest, they might not be so prone to violence as a way to get their viewpoints in the public.

I have not been to Norway in 25 years, but obviously their immigration policies must be changing - the Norweigians we met had never seen a non-caucasian person person before we "invaded" their farms and villages.

Norway is a wonderful country, with wonderful people.
