Vancouver Canucks

Chicago Blackhawks believe in themselves

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Is it too late to change my prediction of Canucks in seven? The Blackhawks sent a message to all the non-believers that they're for real and are legitimate Stanley Cup contenders after dispatching Vancouver in six games in the Western Conference semifinals.

What an incredible, wonderful, thrilling, satisfying season we've had so far! Everything from here on out is extra icing on our cake.

We along with these terrifiic kids are now dreaming big, dreaming of the ultimate. And we get to share in the fun, excitement and joy of chasing those dreams.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Blackhawks. Thank you for the most wonderous season any of us have could have hoped for -- and we're looking for more.

Love it!

Let's Go Hawks!

Now I am afraid! I figured Vancouver would win - Luongo and all.

Now if we have to face Detroit, which seeme likely, they will have what both Calgary and Vancouver did not. AS much speed as us.

So if I predict Red Wings in 7 does that guarentee Hawks in 6?

Doesn't matter what happens in this next round (or the finals), this team is precisely that, a team.

That's why they're so full of surprises and heart-stopping hockey. They do believe in each other, and that is a train that's very hard to derail.

Sports these days is largely populated by ego-driven, self-promoting idiots. You get cynical.

Then you find yourself looking at Toews wearing the "C" of an NHL franchise at 20. You remember how the entire team traded an off-day for a bus ride to a funeral of the GM's relative.

You believe a little in karma again.

I don't know where RamRod is these days, but he's right. They're Our Kids, Dammit.

We're privileged to be able to watch their magic.

How can you not believe? The Blackhawks beat big, bad, Luongo like a drum and made him burst into tears and run away from the press. Literally. I know everybody wants the Red Wings and it sure makes for a classic matchup but I'll remain the pragmatist and hope for a Ducks victory so the Hawks get home ice.

Regardless, I think they need to add a new version to the Blackhawk's "My goal ... " series of commercials:

"My goal ... is to make the other team's goaltender cry."

Adding " ... and run to mama" might be over the top, though.:)

call me a fair weather fan if you want, but I haven't watched a blackhawks game since the 1995 playoffs and I'm really thrilled to be watching and enjoying this group of young players tear up the ice! Go Hawks!

Hey, didn't the Hockey News rumor column mention Luongo was visiting his mother after cleaning out his locker for the summer??????????

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Gemini

You'll need every ounce of patience today because even the best-laid plans could go up in smoke under the Full Moon lunar eclipse. It seems that certain people are doing their best to throw spanners in the works, and the more annoyed you become the more they'll goad you still further. If there's dissent in the ranks about how to spend New Year's Eve, you may decide to go your own sweet way and prove that you're an individual in your own right. But try not to let any bad feelings mar the celebrations. Have a fantastic night!
