ovechkin is the best player right now.
if NHL thinks of not sending their players to Russia, then I´d say, screw you all.
the public deserves to see the best, at least once every 4 years.

i am not talking about his looks, but if he stays in the NHL, he might even break gretsky´s records.

When he gets 50 goals in 39 games, I will be convinced. Until then he's a wannabe.

A friend's new prayer:

Our Father, who art in GM Place, HOCKEY be thy name, thy will be done. GOLD to be WON on ice as well as in the stands, give us this day, our hockey sticks and forgive us for our penalties, as we forgive those who crosscheck against us. LEAD US not into elimination but deliver us TO VICTORY, in the name ... of the fans, CANADA and the Holy Puck. AMEN!

The best at what? Highlight reel goals are one thing. Winning something of significance is another, which he has never done.
BTW - 4-1 Canada over the Slovaks.

jack,

i am amazed by your optimistic views.
oh well, it´s your prerogative.
shall we blame, all the others in WA because they are useless ?
i believe, WA will win Stanley soon.
as they say, hold your horses tonight.
as long as Slovaks can skate off the ice, tie or even one down after the first period, watch out then.

i hope those canucks won´t come out like mad dogs, just like they had against the russians.
perhaps, we should pray before the game or even better sing a song " in god we trust "

Bulldozers, is how ovie-chicken referred to them. Gentlemen, start your engines! If the Slovaks need an Oilers player (Vishnovsky) in the line-up they're done.

oh boy, now what´s wrong with vishnovsky ?
we have a recipe for bulldogs, just skate a bit faster, these bulldogs are clumsy.

He's a defensive liability who is scared of body contact and will quickly wave the white flag. You'd almost think he was French!

Sorry, not bulldogs. But bulldozers, like heavy equipment earth movers.

are we both talking about the same chap ?
these days, there are so many europeans in the NHL, have you not mistaken him for somebody else ?
when i watched him play he never waved any flag, not alone white one.
bulldogs, are much more appropriate for your team.
if you were compared to bulldozers, we might bring cranes then. just one little hook, up in the air, you go.

Mr. Lubo plays here in Edmonton so, yes, we are talking about the same gent. I've seen his antics many, many times.
If we are bulldogs, then the Slovaks would be the friendly little beagle that just wants to be liked?

even, if we were beagles, then we still could run circles around bulldogs.
as for him, not all players play rough games, some play finesse hockey, some are just like lumberjacks.
yes, he likes to avoid direct hits, but he skates well, shoots well, plays power plays, pretty valuable for the slovak team.

On behalf of Slovak people good luck to all teams, CAD, USA, FINNS, but mainly go Slovakia.
