Knowing him though, he's banking on Kilger to come back and center a line with Stewart and Montador. And that's lookin like our second scoring line.:) But, we have to wait. We can all say what we want and think, but in the end we just don't know... and that's the hardest thing. We all get mad about all this crap because we, as long time fans, have had this team as part of our lives for 15 years. There's always hope... right? I can almost guarantee you Martin won't sign any player(s) of significance. Not only is Cohen cheap, but Martin is stupid and still thinks that offense will magically appear from players who didn't perform for several seasons already. Even if by a longshot Martin wanted to sign a good UFA scorer he would be late to the party because they are getting snatched up like hot cakes. The FA market will be bone dry in about two weeks. Just enough time for Martin to wake-up out of his coma and realize that Tampa is going to whip-up on this team for seasons to come. If you don't believe me why don't you get a peewee team together and put them against the team I COACH. I mean, since I don't know anything about the game it's a good thing that Palm Beach County has allowed me to become USA hockey certified to coach. Prick. Sorry man, I did not see the word not in your original post. Kind in minf however, just because I disagreed with you on Betuzzi you started the war of words...no biggie. I get a lot of laughs reading this blog. Still disagree with you on Bertuzzi. He is nowhere near the player he was 5 years ago and I wouldn't sign him if I was running this team. To me he only fits as a 3rd liner on a contending team at this point in his career.

Agreed, if Martin thinks Matthias and Frolik are magically going to prop up a second scoring line despite having only 4 games of NHL experience between them he's going to be in for a rude awakening. Horton-Booth-Weiss isn't a true first line either. Offense is going to hard to come by this year.

As for your hockey knowledge being far superior to mine or anyone else's because you coach Pee Wee's...give me a break. I actually played the game at a high level, have been following the NHL for ages and have probably forgotten more about the game then you will ever know. Just because you run a bunch of snot-nosed kids in WPB through drills doesn't mean much me. I had coaches as a kid (in football and hockey) who didn't know the game from thie a.s.s. So get off your high horse coach.

Lightning have traded for exclusive rights to Brian Rolston too. Looks like they are being very aggressive in making some major improvements. Starting to seem like the Panthers will be battling it out with Atlanta for last place in the SE unless Jacques makes some serious moves come July 1.

I think Cohen and Martin want to make this another rebuilding year in their perpetual rebuilding franchise. They just won't admit it publically (as usual).

They traded Richards because of the cap to pay for a more balanced team and then they sign Malone. The new owners are trying to make a splash to get people excited but if they wanted to improve their team they should have signed Orpik instead of Malone. I watched Tampa a lot last year and if they need anything they need defense. Unless Tampa gets some good D-men in there they aren't going to crush anyone. Offense was never a problem in Tampa they have Vinny and St. Louis and brought back Prospal. They really should have bolstered their defense. I am not convinced Smith is the answer to their goalie situation either. Malone will help but not that much with their defense. And Roberts forget, too old and fragile now. Good point, they are spending a lot on forwards but they need to shore up their "D" to contend but may have enough juice to get back to the playoffs though. They seem to be taking an opposite approach to the Panthers but stocking up on talented forwards is never a bad thing. Maybe they are planning to swap some of the guys already on their roster for some defensive help.

It's such a shame too. Despite all the trash talking and that there seems to be 2 warring groups with distinct opinions on here I have to say as Panther fans we are all pretty passionate about the team and want nothing more than to see it be sucessful. This could be such a great market for the NHL if the ownership actually cared about bringing a cup to South Florida. I remember as a season ticket holder in the early days all the buzz around the team. Sadly, now for most of South Florida the team is just a pitiful after thought.

It started after they lost to New Jersey in the playoffs, cleared all the salary so Cohan could buy the team. Say what you want about Pavel Bure, at least those games were exciting.

DK is right about one thing. We all love this team. It's obvious. Some of us believe differently than the others but whatever. People can agree with me, WP and RED or DK and TGH... it really doesn't matter. Because in october, we'll all be at the BAC rootin' for our boys; no matter how many young kids line up to take the faceoff. We aren't just Panther fans, we're hockey fans.
And you know what, we'll sign somebody. JM Can't be that stupid. And if we don't, oh well. We'll still scream for every goal, even though we may not score many.
