Yea, I read about that earlier. I wasn't surprised to see Lupul go, considering he was going to be overpaid next season (4.25M). I don't know why they had to give up Sbisa along with 2 1st round picks, though, cause Pronger is 34 and shouldn't command that much value in a trade (in the assets going to the Ducks)...at most, it should have been Lupul, Sbisa, and a 3rd rounder, not 2 first rounders. Still, the Flyers have Parent, Marc-Andre Bourdon, Syvret, Bodrov in their system and Matt Carle and Braydon Coburn with the big team.

This move for Pronger sends a message to the NHL that they feel they have a shot at winning the Stanley Cup next season. If the trade doesn't work out, they still dump salary (Lupul), don't have to resign Pronger the following year, and are able to give Coburn an extension, while setting themselves up for Giroux and Carter's extensions.

I tell ya how I see this working out you now have what I believe is a top three defenceman in the eastern conferance. The you put him with another top 10 defenceman in Timonen, and you have a soon to be top 10 defenceman in Coburn. Then you put Parent, Jones, and Carle in the rest of the spots. The way this has to happen is Prongers 6.25 mill comes in Lupul and his 4.25 goes out there is another trade comming to get out from under the cap. I might be wrong but Lupuls contract kicks in next year so he was making around 2 mill so we have 4 mill comming in and really only 2 mill leaving. There will be another trade without question.

Lupul had a 2.3M cap hit this year and it will go to 4.25M next season...if you go to nhlnumbers.com , click the link at the bottom of the page, and go to the Flyers salary cap information. Without Pronger and Emery, the Flyers have 49.901M dedicated to their roster for next season. When you add Emery (1.5M) and Pronger(6.25M), the Flyers arrive at 57.651, which is less than 1M over the cap. This enables the Flyers to just remove Randy Jones' 2.75M cap hit, to get them back under the cap...of course they may make another trade, to give them the ability to sign a faceoff guy and a gritty third liner. We'll see what happens now...

I think carle and jones have to go, they are making to much money for where they will be slated in the line up. Carle didnt pan out last year as well as I would of thought. Alberts is better and cheaper. Jones is good but makes to much.

I agree with Jones having to go but we gotta be careful with what we do with Carle, cause he's a future PP Quarterback. I think Carle is going to break 40 points this year, with Pronger now in the mix. I think it's very possible that the Flyers could have 4 players with over 40 points on defense.

We dont need a guy soft defenceman that get 40 points we need a big strong physical defenceman who would probibly get between 15 and 20 points. That guy would be paired with coburn who will be the point producer.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Taurus

It's no good - the prospect of visiting the post-Christmas sales has become too tempting for you to resist any longer. No matter what you're doing today, you'll try to squeeze in the opportunity to dash around some of your favourite shops and see what's on offer. You could snap up some bargains but you should guard against the urge to splurge on items that you don't really want or need. The price of something may have been slashed but the acid test is whether you'd still buy it if it were full price. If not, leave it in the shop!
