Some of my fondest sports memories growing up was listening to Dan Avey and first Roy Storey and then Bob Miller on my transistor radio hidden beneath my pillow because I was supposed to be asleep. Another part of my youth gone. My condolences to his family.

The combination of Roy Storey and Dan Avey was great, wasn't it!? Remember Storey: "Shot on goallll..." The Times obit read that Mr. Avey was a Green Beret in Vietnam, from 1966-68. Interesting man. RIP Mr. Avey.
